In this role, you will be working with business leaders across sales, operations, finance, and IT to meet their data and analytics needs and drive forward their initiatives. You will be expected to work as part of our team of data warehouse engineers to architect, build, and maintain highly performant data models and data transformation processes in Snowflake to be used for operational reporting, dashboarding, analytics, and data science. You will also be a critical part of helping our team to meet the data needs for company-wide initiatives that do not fall cleanly into the scope of one of our existing teams. Finally, you will likely contribute a minority of your time to the administration of Snowflake, Tableau, our enterprise data architecture, and our governance processes for these tools to make the data platform healthier and more scalable.. You need to have deep data warehousing architecture and engineering experience coupled with excellent business acumen and strong communication skills (written & verbal) to establish, drive, and deliver on data strategy and priorities.. There is not currently a team to “inherit” for this role, but this position represents a core function within the Vivint Data team which we intend to grow in the near term (2 years) with your help.. Primary Responsibilities:. Partner with business leaders to understand data needs and provide highly accurate, reliable, and performant data solutions (warehousing, self-serve analytics, dashboarding) to drive critical business operations. Collaborate and influence cross functionally with larger data and technology teams to define and execute data strategy and deliverables. Work closely with project/program management on project deliverables, timelines, and priorities. Ultimately responsible for delivering team projects on time and in a highly accurate, reliable, and performant way. Play a critical role in executing on our vision about data platform best practices. Required Skills:. Empathy – we want to know that you have the humility and awareness to understand the people you work with – their needs, situations, and relative strengths.. Data warehousing expertise – must know how to transform source data into scalable, efficient data architecture (DRY coding, modularized data lineage, development environments, etc.).. Highly skilled in SQL and database technology (Snowflake strongly preferred).. Highly skilled in analytics, storytelling, and visualization (Tableau is preferred).. Strong engineering management skillset – have a clear understanding of data platform best practices and a demonstrable ability to lead, mentor, and motivate a high-performing team of engineers.. Strong communication skills (written and verbal) – Must be able to communicate professionally and effectively with engineers, business stakeholders, and cross functional technology leaders.. Required . Education/Experience:. . Bachelors and/or Masters Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline. 5+ years of data warehousing experience. Significant Snowflake experience is ideal. Significant experience with dbt or SSIS for the data modeling layer is ideal. 3+ years of data analytics and data visualization experience.
