Job Description. Ashburn Consulting, LLC is seeking a Senior Network Security Engineer for a direct hire opportunity in Rockville, Maryland. This individual will possess strong understanding and implementation experience of Cisco ASA, NextGen Palo Alto Firewalls remote access and VPN solutions, and cloud security. Knowledge and experience in F5 Load Balancers (GTM, LTM, AFM, ASM), ZScaler, Splunk, Azure Security, endpoint security a big plus. A good understanding of network switching/routing and able to configure network devices (Cisco) is required. Work with a team of engineers in support of a large complex network and work to proactively design solutions that run efficiently and are manageable.. Qualifications. The Network Security Consulting Engineer will communicate and support security policy, deployment, and support needs. This person will also work with a team to manage the security posture of an enterprise network and enforce policies by updating and configuring security devices. The individual will communicate the security challenges associated and provide solutions to mitigate them. The Engineer will work with Information Security, Network and Server Infrastructure teams on operational tasks and evaluating and testing new solutions. Strong writing and presentation skills required. . This role requires someone with deep and proven technical expertise. Minimum qualification of at least 6-8 years of experience in the IT Security and Networking field.. Relevant Certifications: CCNA, Sec +, Network +, ect.. Extensive experience with, but not limited to, the following Firewalls: Palo Alto, Cisco ASA.. Cisco Network Device Configuration Experience.. Knowledge and experience in F5 (LTM, GTM, AFM, APM) preferred.. Provide expert-level network security support, security engineering, and implementation on network security firewalls, load balancer, and VPN devices.. Design, implement, and manage network security devices including firewalls, load balancers, VPNs, and Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS).. Continuous monitoring and assessment of network security by testing and implementing new security technologies.. Provide customers with enterprise network security solutions based on application and infrastructure requirements.. Collaborate in the design and implementation of complex network technologies (Data Center, Cloud, Hybrid).. Develop and maintain technical documentation, network diagrams, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Work Instructions.. Perform platform lifecycle management activities (patching, upgrades, policy configuration, etc.) for assigned platforms and/or tools.. The SME will be responsible for leading initiatives related to network security, including upgrading firewalls, replacing end-of-life (EOL) and end-of-support (EOS) firewalls and F5, devices, as well as consolidating and redesigning load balancers..
