Product Manager, User Experience @ Yellowbrick

Yellowbrick Data is a rapidly growing Enterprise Data Warehouse start-up headquartered in Silicon Valley – the only credible EDW startup alongside Snowflake. Our engineering office in London Bridge is growing rapidly alongside our business, since we’re selling into a hot market at the convergence of Big Data, Enterprise Data Warehousing, ioT and the Edge. Our technology is used by the world’s largest insurers, credit card companies, telco’s, healthcare and marketers. The Product Manager for User Experience is responsible for owning the vision and strategy driving a consistent user experience across Yellowbrick products. The successful candidate has a deep understanding of UX concepts and futures, and an established network of contacts within the industry. This product manager works closely with customers, partners and field teams to identify UX requirements, map these to Yellowbrick product capabilities, and identify gaps in the portfolio. The PM works directly with engineering, marketing and Field teams to ensure that Yellowbrick develops compelling offerings with a rich user experience; they also translate complex business requirements into user stories to populate the product backlogs that drive engineering efforts. 

 Key Areas of Responsibility: 

  • Develop the strategy for transitioning Yellowbrick products to a common user experience 
  • Develop a network to enable gathering of customer feedback in UX design matters 
  • Collaborate with UX Designer to establish user testing strategy and convert research insights into testable hypotheses and actionable designs 
  • Assist with recruiting optimal participants for conducting UX research studies; virtually or in-person, moderated or unmoderated 
  • Ensure that new products have the capabilities in place to ensure that application behavior is captured to help drive product decisions 
  • Be the ‘voice of the customer’ for the UX engineering team 
  • Drive product requirements to satisfy customer needs and company strategic objectives 
  • Work closely with engineering, sales, marketing, customer support, documentation to make sure all needs of the organization are addressed 
  • Assist in program management activities with cross functional teams required to ensure smooth release cycles 
  • Brief prospects, customers, analysts, 3rd party influencers, and partners on the vision and strategy for the Yellowbrick User Experience

  • Have product/program management experience in UX 
  • Have a good understanding of existing and emerging UX trends 
  • Have excellent presentation and communication skills 
  • Be able to work with people across all aspects of the company 
  • Experience in Agile and fast-paced/iterative development environments 
  • Have experience with developing market driven user stories, functional requirements, and specifications. 
  • Have knowledge of software release processes with the ability to apply it to the deployment process and the evaluation of future release enhancements 
  • Have exceptional ability to impact and influence business results where cross group collaboration is required using strong facilitation and consensus building skills 

 Basic qualifications: 

  • Undergraduate degree in computer science, business or related technical field 
  • Outstanding written and oral communication skills 
  • Proven ability to execute over the entire product lifecycle guided by performance metrics 
  • ‘Outside-in’ viewpoint, fully aware of the competitive set and industry trends, and how to reconcile with company strategy 
  • Ability to create and own the product vision and manage the product backlog from a practical perspective 
  • Ability to lead and facilitate project meetings, team coordination, issue resolution, and action item tracking 

Desired skills:

  • Deep understanding of de facto standard open-source user interface technologies and trends 
  • Deep understanding of open-source data platform technologies and markets to support data integration and analytics tasks at scale 
  • Ability to analyze competitors, do SWOT analysis, and estimate market potential of feature and product
