As we continue to expand, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Corporate Counsel to be our first in-house legal hire. This role will provide the unique opportunity to expand our legal function, shaping the legal operations for a high-growth organization.. . We are looking for an experienced and proactive Corporate Counsel with a strong foundation in contract law to join our team. In this highly impactful role, you will be heavily focused on drafting, negotiating, and reviewing contracts for our Revenue team. This includes customer agreements, vendor contracts, partnerships, and other business-related agreements. The ideal candidate will have 4-8 years of legal experience and preferably have been the first legal hire at a startup or high-growth company.. . You will report directly to the VP of Finance and play a key role in ensuring our legal processes are efficient, scalable, and aligned with our business objectives.. . What you’ll do:. . . . . Contract Management. : Oversee and manage all aspects of contract creation, review, negotiation, and execution. Ensure contracts are clear, legally sound, and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.. . Draft, review, and negotiate customer agreements, master services agreements (MSAs), vendor contracts, NDAs, and other business-related contracts.. . Collaborate with the Revenue department to ensure contracts meet business objectives and mitigate legal risk.. . Develop templates and standardized clauses to streamline contract workflows.. . Legal Operations. : Establish and maintain legal processes for contract lifecycle management and other key areas of business.. . Manage the contract approval process, ensuring timely and efficient turnaround times.. . Track and manage the organization’s legal risks and obligations related to contracts.. . Corporate Governance & Compliance. : Advise the executive team on legal and regulatory compliance issues. Ensure adherence to corporate governance best practices.. . Support the development of internal policies and procedures to maintain compliance with relevant laws (e.g., privacy, data protection, intellectual property).. . Advisory Support. : Provide general legal guidance and support across a variety of business functions, including marketing, sales, product, and HR.. . Advise the business on risk mitigation strategies, regulatory requirements, and best practices.. . Coordinate with external legal counsel as needed for specialized matters.. . Provide legal input for strategic decisions to help the company navigate complex legal landscapes.. . . . . What we’re looking for:. . . . . At least 4 years of relevant legal experience (may be combined in-house/law firm experience), preferably in-house at a startup or high-growth company.. . Prior experience as the first legal hire at a company highly preferred.. . Strong experience in contract law, with a focus on drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, customer and vendor agreements.. . Experience in logistics, particularly cross-border operations, and ecommerce/tech is a plus. . Strong negotiation and communication skills.. . Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.. . Exceptional attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.. . Familiarity with corporate governance, compliance, and risk management practices.. . Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.. . Active Bar License. . Proactive, self-starter with the ability to think strategically and build legal infrastructure from the ground up.. . Confident working in an ambiguous, evolving startup environment and collaborating with cross-functional teams.. . Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to influence decision-making at all levels of the organization.. . . . . $125,000 – $175,000 a year. . Above is our base salary range for this role in Tier 1 cities such as San Francisco or New York. Other locations will vary based on our geographical pay approach. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate location, experience and expertise, and may vary from the level and amounts listed above.. .
