Senior Product Designer II - Design Systems HubSpot. About the team. It includes design foundations, component libraries, documentation, and a variety of support processes and services. This team is responsible for developing and evolving this system based on the changing needs of our users.. About this Role. We’re looking for a systems-minded, visual designer to work on our Design System. In this role, you’ll:. Guide internal teams and external agencies in a hands-on capacity to craft an incredibly polished design language that represents the HubSpot brand values across products and user journeys. Be the primary owner and maintainer of our visual design language foundations libraries including typography, color, layout, spacing, shapes, etc.. Apply our design language to a variety of components and use cases in ways that are expressive, accessible, and cohesive. Work closely with user experience designers to create inspirational visual design examples and easy to use, well-documented patterns. Iterate on multiple designs and collaborate different teams on delivering visual designs across projects for different platforms & devices. Help elevate the practice of visual design at HubSpot and educate and support teams as they apply the design principles and design language in their product. Influence the team and organization by inspiring new ways of thinking, being inclusive, embracing diverse perspectives, and cultivating a culture of safety and well-being. Create and maintain clear, consumable documentation and guidance and examples. Work with designers and researchers across the organization to understand product needs and gather requirements. Partner closely with engineering to weigh tradeoffs, make decisions, and ensure quality implementation. Collaborate with Design Systems operations on process improvements and communication. Who we’re looking for:. You have solved complex user problems through user interface design, creating prototypes (low and high fidelity). You have excellent listening, written, verbal communication skills, storytelling, and documentation skills. You have experience working with brand, marketing, and product teams, translating brand values into a variety of assets and media. You have a curiosity for emerging technologies and desire to experiment with new tools and capabilities. You have a great sense of typography, iconography, color theory, accessibility, localization, and visual composition. Motion, spatial modeling, or illustration background are nice to have.. You can conduct informal research independently and collaborate with user experience research for more formal studies. You think in systems. You have examples where you’ve applied analytical thinking (breaking things down into smaller pieces) and synthetic thinking (seeing the bigger picture trends amongst the pieces).. Easily can prioritize your time and work based on impact and results. You’ve identified what work to do based on goals or a prioritization framework. You’ve driven projects from start to finish with clear expectations and on time.. You’ve used multiple perspectives and data points to inform decisions and can clearly communicate and explain them. You’ve demonstrated resolving conflicting or competing requirements through effective, data-driven decision making.. You understand how front end engineering works enough to influence how your designs get implemented and used. You’ve collaborated effectively with engineering to get the best results. Experience working with React and Storybook preferred.. You have experience designing for complex systems. You’ve ideally designed for enterprise software or worked on a brand experience or design system team.. Expert proficiency of current design software like Figma, with a knack for swiftly adapting new tools as they emerge. Experience using multiple approaches, including analytics and user research, to drive decisions and develop product iterations. About UX at HubSpot.
