We are looking for a Privacy Engineer to join our Data Protection team with an exciting mission of protecting all data at Netflix! You will work closely with security and privacy engineers, software and data engineers, product managers, and legal, product, and engineering leadership to design, develop, and maintain effective data handling guidelines and policies.. In this role, you’ll set technical direction, create strategies and plans, develop great technical documentation, and facilitate alignment across cross-functional teams to ensure our guidance, tooling, and practices are driving tangible data privacy improvements both in the management of personal information and accountability of our privacy program. This role will have a significant impact ranging from protecting data at a massive scale to how Netflix engineers use data and data tools in their daily work.. You have the expertise to develop scalable and pragmatic controls related to data collection, storage, access, usage, and deletion in data warehouse environments and/or operational data systems.. You can advise on what Privacy Enhancing Technologies to use and explain why they make a difference.. You are familiar with data cataloging and classification approaches and best practices at scale.. You utilize a variety of communication and collaboration tools and methods to facilitate effective alignment with cross-functional stakeholders, including legal.. You have prior experience in software development, large-scale distributed systems, or data engineering technologies (Hive, Presto, Spark).. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $100,000 - $720,000..
