Episodic Directors Giant Animation. Description. Giant are seeking Episodic Directors for an exciting new CG production.. Position Overview. This is a full-time position based in the Dublin studio, and there is flexibility for remote working but applicants should be able to work in the Irish timezone as the studio.. We will endeavour to respond to all applicants, but due to the high volume of applications we receive a reply might not always be possible.. Starting date:. August 2023. Position Responsibilities. Work closely with Supervising Director and Art Director to help establish visual rules for the series and guidelines for characters and locations.. Help oversee script versions to prepare Director notes as well as creative and constructive feedback for episodes before they move into production.. Partner with the Supervising Director to help lead the storyboard team and deliver assigned episodes through animatics.. Take part in episodic launch calls and handover calls with the Supervising Director.. Work closely with Storyboard Artists to plan episodes and direct storyboard artists.. Lead Storyboard Pitch calls with the client.. Work closely with the Animatic Editor to direct animatics.. Collaborate directly with production team to review and address client notes.. Help with the dissemination of client notes and give clear direction and advice to team.. Provide status updates, troubleshoot, and review potential changes on a regular basis with production staff.. Participate in the talent acquisition process with the Line Producer and Production Manager to review portfolios and tests, interview candidates, and provide detailed feedback.. Mentor and support the Pre Production team and cultivate positive team morale.. Work closely with the internals Animation and Layout Supervisors and teams for shot production, producing clear feedback notes to meet high standard of animation.. Attend client calls, along with Supervising Director, which include (but limited to) asset launch calls, story calls, animatic and animation creative calls.. Requirements. 5+ years experience, preferably in CG animation for TV or Film.. Prior directorial experience essential, ideally in a long-format TV series.. Proven skills in storyboarding, storytelling and animation timing.. Working knowledge of CG animation pipeline.. Strong leadership capabilities, motivating and leading teams with enthusiasm.. Ability to manage clients needs and expectations in line with series assumptions.. Should have an organised and methodical approach to work.. Ability to establish priorities and multi-task efficiently within a high-pressure environment while meeting strict TV deadlines.. Proven ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all levels of production team, artists and management.. Experience with Shotgrid a plus.
