Contract Attorney The Motley Fool. The Motley Fool is looking for a highly skilled Freelance Attorney to partner with us 40 hours per week for 5-8 months starting mid January. . T. his role is 100% remote, but candidates MUST be based in the USA for consideration.. Additionally, candidate MUST have Juris Doctorate and current Bar admission in good standing in at least one state where The Motley Fool does business: California, Colorado, Washington DC, Florida, New Jersey, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, New York, North Carolina, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, Wisconsin.  . I could do that!".  . What does this team do?. This role will be reporting into the Legal Team. This powerhouse of a team is charged with ensuring that The Motley Fool is on the right side of the law in everything we do, from our  products and services, to our marketing efforts, to our staffing and everything in between. This team spends a lot of time reviewing our content (using Jira tickets to stay organized), and that’s where you’ll come in. You’ll be helping to fill in for one of our attorneys who is out on parental leave. . What would you do in this role?. In this role, you would be responsible for reviewing marketing and advertising content, contracts and more, drafting and reviewing nondisclosure agreements, advertising and other commercial agreements and advising our internal clients on a wide range of legal matters. Essentially, you’re going to be working with our legal team to act as our subject matter expert and keep us in line – we’re counting on you to help keep us on the right side of the law! You’ll use Jira to stay organized and collaborate with the team. Jira experience is a plus but not required.  . But What Would You Actually Do in this role? . Review a significant volume of Marketing and Advertising content. Advise internal clients on a wide range of matters including marketing and promotion, e-commerce, intellectual property and social media. Draft and review nondisclosure agreements, advertising and other commercial agreements. Other legal duties as required. Required Experience:. Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in a law firm or in-house, demonstrating a strong foundation in legal practice.. Proven experience in reviewing and analyzing marketing and advertising content to ensure compliance with legal standards and regulations.. Experience navigating financial services or other highly regulated industries (healthcare, aviation, etc) would be a plus. . Familiarity with General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a plus. . Juris Doctorate (JD) degree and current Bar admission in good standing in at least one state where The Motley Fool does business: . Effective communication skills to advise internal clients on a wide range of legal matters, including marketing and promotion, e-commerce, intellectual property, and social media.. Proficiency in drafting and reviewing legal documents, including nondisclosure agreements, advertising contracts, and other commercial agreements.. Ability to work remotely and maintain excellent collaboration and organization, with prior experience in tools like Jira as a plus (although not required)..
