Bitsight Technologies is looking for a Data Operations Data Engineer to become a core member of our Data Operations team. . This role would be perfect for a new computer science university graduate or someone with a junior level software engineering background willing to develop into a Data Engineer. You will be working alongside Data Operations Engineers and Software Engineers across Engineering and Data Science Teams.. Data is the backbone of Bitsight’s pioneering security ratings product. The ideal candidate will be a systems-oriented problem solver who is comfortable in a high-visibility role at the intersection of data, customer, people, and technology. This person will play a key role in managing the day-to-day operations of Bitsight’s data business and is expected to become an expert in the systems that are responsible for constructing BitSight’s security ratings. . Responsibilities:. Participate in Data Outage processes by troubleshooting and driving root cause resolution of technical issues related to data sources, in close collaboration with Product, Engineering, Research, and Data Science teams. Participate in Data Observability processes by contributing to the design, implementation, and monitoring of data quality, data delivery, freshness, and lineage metrics to ensure reliable data delivery across systems. Develop and maintain operational metrics for data sources in partnership with Engineering, Research, and Data Science. Share insights through scalable, repeatable processes, tools, and visualizations (Google Looker, Grafana), and recommend data quality or system improvements based on findings. Conduct quality checks on data received from external providers or internal sources to ensure successful and accurate integration. Leverage existing and emerging technologies to analyze data insights such as volume trends, anomaly detection, and pattern recognition, and recommend new tools as needed. Document data integrations and related technical details to support knowledge sharing and ensure consistent understanding across teams. Ensure the accuracy and completeness of data sets required to support BitSight’s security ratings, keeping them up to date and reflective of current source integrity. Perform routine technical evaluations of data sets, document results, and clearly communicate findings to both internal and external stakeholders. Requirements. BS in a quantitative or technical discipline (Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Economics, etc) or relevant professional experience. Demonstrated ability to use data to troubleshoot and solve complex problems autonomously and in collaboration with technical and non-technical colleagues. Experience analyzing, documenting, and presenting data-driven research. Understanding or willingness to learn the following tools: AWS, Google Looker, Grafana, Python Jupyter Notebooks, Python scripting, Pyspark, Jenkins, Jira, AWS Airflow. Previous exposure to Amazon AWS (S3, Athena, Glue, Lambda, EC2) is preferred. Working knowledge of computer science, data collection/management, software development, and network engineering concepts. Ability to be a self-starter, be attentive to details, and work independently. Demonstrated intermediate knowledge of SQL, Python, command line interfaces, and/or other analytical tools. . Desired qualifications:. 1-2 years of experience in cybersecurity, data management, software engineering, SaaS. Proven experience in building . ETL. data . pipelines. Familiarity with data observability or monitoring frameworks to track data freshness, quality, and lineage. Experience contributing to operational dashboards or internal tooling for data health and performance metrics. Exposure to troubleshooting data quality issues in collaboration with cross-functional engineering and product teams. Comfortable interacting directly with customers via Zoom to investigate and resolve technical data issues.
