We are looking for a highly talented Data Analyst to join our growing clinical research informatics team to support the development, implementation, and support of a robust clinical research data environment. Throughout the institution, across the clinical, research, administrative, and operational domains there are many clinical research customers who need access to accurate and consistently defined data to drive insightful analytics and support the broader research mission of the organization. This Data Analyst will be responsible for putting a structured programs in place to enhance the ability for St. Jude to meet our mission and participate even further in the global research community.. As a Data Analyst you will play a vital role in meeting a wide range of operational data needs from establishing and integrating data management and quality policies to translating complex clinical research requirements into actionable data and technology frameworks. Success in this role comes from building strong partnerships with clinical research teams and technical developers, fully understanding their data needs, anticipating challenges and delivering high-quality data models that support research areas like Oncology, Hematology, Bone Marrow Transplant, Epidemiology and Infectious Diseases. Understanding clinical workflows and a willingness to learn new business processes will allow you to connect analytics to the day-to-day operations of researchers, enhancing their ability to conduct cutting-edge studies on both local and global scales. In this role you’ll also contribute to advancing St. Jude’s data and analytics technology platform aligning with institutional priorities and fostering a data-driven culture.. Working with diverse healthcare data both quantitative and qualitative you’ll conduct advanced exploratory analyses and design visually engaging dashboards with charts, graphs, drill down capabilities and seamless navigation to deliver actionable insights. You’ll connect technical precision with organizational goals by taking ownership of the design, development, monitoring, documentation and maintenance of data products. Your Impact. Mature institution-wide data and analytics capabilities that drive self-service/self-sufficiency and facilitate greater access to global research networks and programs. Contribute to the development, delivery, and program integration of cutting edge and robust common data model(s) to support analytics solutions across the clinical and clinical research portfolios. Work alongside technical and clinical resources to gather requirements and map clinical coding to technical requirements in support of a common data model. Enable researchers to access large swaths of clinical and clinical research data in a uniform methodology in support of the organization’s mission. Some regular responsibilities might look like, but are not limited to: . Communicate effectively with team members, customers, and management, keeping them updated on status as needed. Understand workflows, processes and terminology in the clinical and research areas at St. Jude. Assist in/execute entry-level design and mapping of databases/dashboards and/or coding of data validation. Provide expertise in data collection, structuring and quality assurance. Collaborate with data architects on the Common Data Model. Effectively monitor projects against timelines and milestones. Proactively develop deeper knowledge of data concepts, processes, and methodologies. Bolster partnerships across the clinical and research portfolios. Review design with team members to ensure institutional data management framework is being understood, followed, and matured within a defined governance structure. Work closely with Solutions Architects, Business SMEs and other stakeholders throughout the analytics development lifecycle to ensure the delivery of robust and reusable data models. Work with clinical research teams to identify data needs, perform queries, clear permissions with regulatory groups (e.g. IRB), and distribute data. Develop materials and lead training for department and clinical resources. Manage access and user roles as applicable. Work with study teams to identify best practices in data quality, accuracy, completeness, and reliability through data validation, cleansing, and regular audits. Regularly profile data to understand its quality and identify issues. Specification creation for semantic mapping in the Common Data Models, and/or data curation processes. Minimum Education and/or Training:. Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, information science, business, or related field required.. Master's degree preferred.. Minimum Experience:. Knowledge of programming languages, databases, and software development lifecycle.. Some experience with enterprise reporting tools for development of reports preferred as applicable.. Some experience working with data loading processes preferred.. 2-3 years experience in healthcare delivery or healthcare research industries preferred. Understanding data management and governance concepts such as data quality, metadata, dependency management, etc.. Experience with specification creation for semantic mapping in the Common Data Models, and/or data curation processes preferred.. Preferred experience with i2b2/OMOP/PCORnet common data models, Epic EHR, TrialMaster, OnCore, RedCap, RedCapCloud, and Microsoft Azure/Synapse/Power BI.. Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Willingness and ability to learn, adapt and apply new technologies. Certifications that are a plus, but not required:. Epic certifications: Clarity, Caboodle, and Reporting Workbench . It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the salary range and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
