Manager of Data Engineering at Abacus. Location Information: Remote. . Position Overview. . We are looking for a Manager of Data Engineering to lead the strategy, design, and execution of Abacus Group’s data platform. You will be responsible for owning the end-to-end data product lifecycle, including defining data structures, designing the data warehouse, managing data ingestion . pipelines. , and enabling internal teams with accurate, accessible reporting tools. You will collaborate cross-functionally with business stakeholders, data engineers, analysts, and outsourced development teams to gather requirements, prioritize initiatives, write clear specifications, and drive successful delivery of data products that meet business goals.. . Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):. . . Own and manage the overall architecture and roadmap for data structures, data warehouse design, and data reporting systems.. . Act as the primary liaison between business units and the data development team to capture, clarify, and prioritize data needs.. . Define and document detailed product requirements, data specifications, and user stories for ingestion pipelines and reporting tools.. . Collaborate with engineering and outsourced development teams to ensure successful implementation of data solutions on time and within scope.. . Manage the workoad and work output of an offshore data engineering team.. . Lead the data product lifecycle from ideation to delivery, including backlog grooming, sprint planning, and roadmap management.. . Oversee the integration of diverse data sets into the data warehouse to support analytics, business intelligence, and reporting needs.. . Champion data governance, quality, and security best practices across the organization.. . Monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure alignment between cross-functional contributors and business objectives.. . . Skills: . . . Strong understanding of data modeling, . ETL. pipelines, and modern data warehousing concepts (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, etc.).. . Proven ability to gather and translate business requirements into technical deliverables.. . Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate business needs into technical requirements.. . Experience with data visualization/reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker).. . Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and product management tools such as Azure DevOps or similar.. . A proactive, problem-solving mindset with strong project management and prioritization skills.. . . Qualifications:. . . 5+ years of product ownership experience with a focus on data platforms, data warehousing, or analytics products.. . Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field; MBA or relevant certification is a plus.. . Experience working closely with development teams, including offshore/outsourced partners.. . Experience managing an offshore team.. . Exposure to regulatory and compliance considerations in data management.. . Background in the financial services or technology sector preferred.. .
