As application engineers, we build tools that land managers, fire districts, and utility planners use to make decisions to mitigate wildfire and climate risk, across our wildfire resilience and utilities applications. These applications run and present the results of optimizations and simulations as both statistics in tables and charts, and layers on a map.. We build full stack features within an Elixir, Phoenix LiveView, and Postgres application stack. We collaborate with product, design, data engineering, infrastructure, science, and operations.. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR. You thrive on building great products in a startup atmosphere. Given a loosely defined problem, you can collaborate with others to resolve ambiguities and ship high quality features.. Many of our engineers bring a second area of expertise alongside their technical skills, like ecology, forestry, or fire science. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS. • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building and shipping full-stack web applications.. • Hands-on experience turning designs into responsive, accessible UIs. You have worked closely with product and design partners.. • Strong proficiency with SQL and relational databases. PostgreSQL experience is a bonus.. • Comfortable working in a fully remote, fast-paced startup environment.. • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.. At least one of the following. • Experience building interactive web maps with a working knowledge of geospatial fundamentals such as projections and spatial data formats (Geopackage, GeoTIFF, etc.).. • Domain expertise in a natural science/resource field (forestry, ecology, remote sensing, fire science, meteorology, or related field).. • Experience with Elixir and some front-end framework, preferably Phoenix LiveView.. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS. • Experience generating, serving, and consuming raster and vector tilesets (Tippecanoe, MBTiles/PMTiles).. • Experience with PostGIS or other spatial database tooling..
