We’re hiring a Data Lead to help Fathom level up how we use data to make decisions across the company. This is a hands-on leadership role: you’ll work directly with data, mentor our data scientists, and partner with stakeholders in Marketing, Sales, and Product to shape a smart, scalable data org.. You’ll split your time between critical IC work (building dashboards, doing data analysis, fixing broken data pipelines, etc), a managing and mentoring the data team, and aligning with business leaders to drive the right priorities. This is a perfect fit for someone who can alternate between deep technical work and collaboration—with strong business intuition and a pragmatic mindset.. This role is fully remote and open to candidates willing to work on US time zones.. WHAT YOU'LL DO. By 30 Days:. Get up to speed on our key data models, pipelines, reporting, and infrastructure.. Set up structured, ongoing collaboration with Marketing, Sales, and Product leaders to understand their priorities.. Build a strong working relationship with the existing data team.. By 90 Days:. With collaboration from other execs, uplevel our internal dashboards that each department relies on to pursue their goals.. Spearhead project to refresh our understanding of product signals that correlate with customer conversion, expansion and churn.. Coach and mentor existing data team members; identify gaps or resourcing needs.. Create a clear 6-month plan for major data infrastructure and analytics projects. By 6 Months: . Hired 1-2 new additions to the data team to fill whatever gaps you see fit. Have bandwidth for self-directed projects where the data team is proactively providing insights to other departments, especially Product (shifting from fully reactive to being partially proactive). Finding data efficiencies and investing in opportunities to democratize access to data through self-serve tools for folks outside the data team. REQUIREMENTS. Hard Skills. Strong SQL and analytical modeling skills.. Strong product sense and ability to translate business and product problems into data solutions without being given specific instructions. Experience working with modern data stacks (we use BigQuery, DBT, Census, Fivetran, Hex, and Amplitude).. Experience working with ETL tools (we use DataFlow/DataStream) and debugging and fixing them when issues arise. Comfortable doing hands-on work: writing queries, reviewing dashboards, fixing data infrastructure, etc. Comfortable reading code in order to understand how data is being generated from production systems. Prior experience building or leading data teams at a SaaS company.. Soft Skills. A "nose for value". You instinctively focus the team’s energy on the most impactful work.. Strong business intuition. You understand how go-to-market teams work and what they need.. Clear and proactive communicator, able to set expectations with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.. Collaborative and open-minded, but not afraid to say no.. High sense of ownership. You make the machine run and flag what needs to be fixed before it breaks.. WHAT YOU'LL GET.
