The company operates a portfolio of subscription-based digital products with recurring revenue models, including free trials, discounts, negative option billing, and automatic renewals. Payments are centralized across multiple products and built primarily on Stripe and PayPal, supported by additional providers when required.. The payments function is a core operational area of the business, with established processes and clear ownership across products.. Role Overview. The Payments Manager will own and execute day-to-day payment operations across multiple live subscription products.. This is a hands-on execution role, not a strategic or advisory position. The role focuses on maintaining payment stability, controlling risk, and continuously improving payment performance in a high-volume subscription environment.. Key Responsibilities. Own payment operations across subscription-based B2C products. Manage and optimize Stripe and PayPal, including:. subscriptions. disputes. reporting. fraud and risk configurations. Monitor and actively manage:. chargeback and dispute ratios. fraud rates. authorization and approval rates. involuntary and voluntary churn. Handle chargebacks and disputes, including root-cause analysis and evidence preparation. Work with fraud prevention tools such as Stripe Radar, Verifi, Ethoca, Sift, Kount, or similar. Optimize recurring billing mechanics:. renewals. retries. dunning logic. trial-to-paid flows. Improve authorization rates using NT / BAU / RTAU strategies. Support experimentation with payment and PLG flows:. free trials. one-click payments. partial authorizations. local payment methods. Use existing analytics and dashboards to understand performance and act on metrics. Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and payments leadership on execution and optimization. Requirements. Must Have. Direct merchant-side experience in a product company. Hands-on experience with subscription-based B2C products. Strong practical experience with chargebacks, disputes, and fraud. Deep hands-on experience with Stripe and solid experience with PayPal. Understanding of card network rules and thresholds. Strong knowledge of recurring billing mechanics. Experience operating in high-volume payment environments. Execution-focused mindset with clear ownership. Nice to Have. Experience with Verifi, Ethoca, Sift, Kount, or similar tools.
