
Product Designer at Speakeasy. Remote Location: San Francisco or Remote. About This Role. We're seeking a Product Designer who's excited about crafting high quality tools that developers love. You'll design the experiences that help engineering teams generate, maintain, and work with APIs at scale. This role is perfect for someone who's curious about technical problem spaces and passionate about making complex workflows feel simple, delightful and productive.. At Speakeasy, we're building the tools that transform how teams approach API development - from code generation and SDK creation to API documentation and MCP. You'll be designing experiences that need to work seamlessly across complex technical workflows while keeping the user experience intuitive and enjoyable.. What You'll Do. Product Strategy & Vision. Own the end-to-end design process from requirements gathering to implementation-ready deliverables. Contribute to strategic direction and product vision through user research and market analysis. Develop deep understanding of how developers work with APIs and what makes their workflows successful. Identify opportunities to improve developer productivity through observation, data analysis, and user feedback. Design Excellence. Think through complex UX, UI, and interaction challenges to find best-in-class solutions. Create high-fidelity designs, prototypes, and flows. Design experiences that balance power and simplicity for technical audiences. Help build and maintain our design system. User Research & Discovery. Conduct user research with engineering teams to understand their workflows and pain points. Learn about the problem space through customer interviews, usability testing, and data analysis. Translate technical requirements into user-centered design solutions. Develop empathy for developers' day-to-day challenges with API development and tooling. Cross-Functional Collaboration. Partner closely with engineering/product teams to bring designs to life. Participate in design critiques and engineering handoffs to ensure the finished article is of a high quality. Present design concepts and rationale to stakeholders across the organization. Work collaboratively with engineers who are passionate about building great developer experiences. What We're Looking For. Core Experience. 3-5 years of product design experience, ideally with B2B or technical products. Strong portfolio demonstrating your design process from research to final implementation. Experience designing tools or platforms where user workflows are complex. Track record of simplifying complicated processes through thoughtful design. Mindset & Approach. Curiosity and eagerness to learn about technical problem spaces - you don't need to be a developer, but you should be excited to understand how developers work. Strong user research skills and genuine interest in understanding customer needs. Ability to ask the right questions and dig deep into problem spaces you're unfamiliar with. Comfort with ambiguity and ability to navigate complex product challenges. Design Skills. Proficiency in modern design tools (Figma, Sketch, or similar). Experience with prototyping and creating interactive flows. Strong visual design skills and attention to detail. Understanding of design systems and component-based design. Collaboration. Excellent communication skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to advocate for user needs while balancing technical constraints. Experience working in cross-functional teams. Open to feedback and comfortable iterating on designs. Bonus Points. Experience designing for developer audiences or technical products. Working knowledge of Git/GitHub for collaboration with engineering. Understanding of API concepts or developer workflows. Front-end development skills or ability to prototype in code.
