Product Leader at Aphex. Remote Location: Australia. About Aphex. We're the construction planning platform replacing outdated spreadsheets with multiplayer tools that delivery teams love. Major contractors like Acciona, CPB Contractors, John Holland, and McConnell Dowell use Aphex to deliver projects from £50 million to multi-billion pound mega projects.. We're market-leading in Australia and the UK, supporting teams building the roads, rail, tunnels, and hospitals that millions use every day. Our founding thesis: owning the planning layer is a gateway to solving high-friction adjacent processes in what we call the orchestration layer of major project delivery. Diary is our first major product expansion of that thesis.. The Role. We're looking for a Product Leader to own Diary—our production tracking and record capture product. This isn't another site diary. We're rethinking how construction teams capture and mobilise what actually happened on site.. You'll work directly with our CEO (acting Head of Product, deeply product-oriented, knows construction inside-out), alongside CTO, Head of Engineering, and Product Leader for Planner.. The Thesis:. Records connected to the plan (not siloed). Low-friction, unstructured capture (not rigid forms). AI-enabled throughout (easier to record, proactively surfaces insights). The AI opportunity here isn't about being on the leading edge of foundational models—it's inventing the UX of how AI fits naturally into workflows for an AI-nascent industry.. Where we are:. 18 months building MVP alongside our core product.. 10 enterprise customers trialling with unanimously strong feedback from that cohort and everyone we've demoed to.. We've identified the opportunity. Now we're building a standalone team to attack it with vigour.. What You'll Do. Own the Roadmap. Set direction for Diary—what gets built, when, and why. Make tradeoff calls: customer requests vs AI bets vs technical debt vs strategic priorities. Resource plan 1-2 quarters ahead so you're never scrambling. Maintain the quality bar: "Does this make us proud?". Drive Execution. Direct line manager for Product Managers—their delivery is your delivery. Partner with designers and Tech Lead to scope, design, and build. Be close enough to spot blockers early without micromanaging. Build shipping culture: rigorous planning, clear standards, consistent cadence. Build the Team. Set clear standards for velocity and quality—hold the team to them. Develop PMs through coaching and feedback. Create environment where people do their best work. Build reputation: other teams view Diary as the model. Why This Matters. This isn't pure strategy or pure execution—it's both. You'll review quarterly roadmaps with the CEO one moment, debug why something isn't shipping the next. You'll make tradeoff decisions with incomplete information. You'll say no more than yes.. We need someone who can operate at multiple altitudes. Someone who builds for the long term—construction projects last years, so do great products. Someone our CEO can partner with on product thinking, not just receive status reports from.. About You. Essential:. 5+ years product management and ideally some of that leading a product area or team. Balanced strategic roadmapping with day-to-day execution in B2B SaaS. Managed product managers directly—comfortable with accountability for outcomes you don't fully control. Technical fluency: discuss architecture with engineers, understand data models and APIs. Can have difficult conversations about performance and standards. Remote-first mindset: write clearly, document decisions, build relationships asynchronously. Highly valued:. Vertical SaaS or construction/industrial experience. Excited about AI opportunity (don't need to be ML expert). Track record taking products from MVP to scale. Deep customer empathy—obsessed with understanding how users actually work. Not looking for:. Pure strategists who haven't been in the weeds recently. Someone who wants to delegate execution and stay high-level. People uncomfortable with ambiguity or incomplete information. What We Offer. Work & Culture:. Remote-first role working across UK, Europe, and Australia time zones. Flexible working hours with async collaboration. Join a team that takes ownership, focuses on quality, and genuinely enjoys solving hard problems together. Strategic Impact:. Define the roadmap, not execute someone else's. Work directly with CEO (acting Head of Product) with genuine influence on company direction. Own a major product area at the centre of our AI strategy. Team Connection:. A focus on culture: At Aphex, we are focused on making real impact, together, and strive to walk the talk on that every day. Annual offsite: In 2025 our team met for a week in Da Nang, Vietnam - you’ll need to join us to see where we have planned in 2026! . Tech & Growth:. MacBook Pro. Growth opportunities: As Aphex scales across new markets, your career can scale with it. Ongoing learning and training opportunities, including a training allowance Aphex covers. Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Statement. Our company does not discriminate in employment on the basis of race, color, religion, gender identity or expression, national origin, age, disability, or other non-merit factors. At Aphex, we believe our team should reflect the variety of perspectives in the world we build for. We've noticed that qualified candidates from underrepresented groups sometimes hesitate to apply unless they meet 100% of the listed requirements, while others might apply when meeting just 60%.. If you're excited about Aphex and believe you have the core skills to succeed in this role, we encourage you to apply - even if you don't check every box in the description. Your unique perspective might be exactly what we need. If you need any accommodations during the interview process, please let us know.
