About the Role. We are hiring a Director of Cloud & Platform Engineering to lead and scale our SRE and Core Platform Services teams, helping the organization to adopt a new, Developer Experience capability, all the while promoting a DevOps culture. This role will be responsible for shaping the strategy, structure, and technical direction of our cloud infrastructure to ensure reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency across Rula’s platform. You will partner closely with Product, Application, Data, and Security teams to deliver world-class developer experiences, modern DevOps practices, and resilient core services that enable Rula to grow rapidly and securely. The ideal candidate is both a strategic leader and a technical operator, equally comfortable setting vision, mentoring managers, and driving execution on complex engineering initiatives.. This is a leadership role managing managers and generally not a hands-on technical role. Your technical expertise will be valuable in building out teams and selecting appropriate skill sets. Success will be measured by the ability to lead through others, select the appropriate technical leaders for areas of expertise, setting, measuring, and achieving technical and project goals. You will provide overall oversight for the projects within your domain, making appropriate risk-based tradeoff decisions and collaborating across other engineering leaders in the organization to drive the best overall outcomes for Rula.. Required Qualifications. 15+ years in software engineering, with 10+ in engineering leadership roles as a people manager.. 10+ years leading DevOps, SRE, Developer Experience, Infrastructure and/or Platform Engineering teams in a SaaS environment. 8+ years working with cloud providers, with a primary focus on AWS. Experience managing managers. Demonstrated success in building and scaling cloud-native tooling and frameworks in modern cloud environments (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform). Experience leading teams that build high-quality, user-friendly internal tools, SDKs, and/or engineering empowerment services tools, frequently used across an engineering org. Experience directly managing or tracking projects with a variety of stakeholders (define and build plan, manage activities, risks, stakeholder communication, etc). Experience with cloud cost management / FinOps. Experience with implementing and driving a DevOps culture and associated practices. Proven success of ownership of cloud architecture & environment management. Preferred Qualifications. Prior experience working in a HIPAA compliant or other similarly regulated environment.
