Your role will focus on extracting and converting assets—such as models, textures, animations, configuration files, and data tables. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with raw binary data, uncovering undocumented structures, and building tools to make this data accessible in open formats.. In this role, you'll reverse engineer file formats—pulling out everything from textures and models to internal config files and data tables. You’ll build tools (in whatever language you're comfortable with) to extract and convert assets into open, usable formats like JSON, PNG, glTF, and more.. What you’ll be doing:. Reverse engineering file formats—archives, containers, binaries, custom tables. Extracting and converting assets: 3D models, textures, animations, etc.. Converting internal config files and data tables into structured formats like JSON. Writing small, focused tools or scripts to automate your work. Documenting what you find so others can use it or build on it. What we’re looking for:. Experience reverse engineering file formats or binary data structures. A solid grasp of how assets and data are structured. Comfortable working without documentation or clear specs. Experience with PC games. Bonus if you’ve worked with modding tools, asset converters, or fan-made extractors. Ability to work during US/Eastern hours. Nice to have (but not required):. Knowledge of texture formats (like DDS, KTX), or 3D formats (glTF, FBX). Experience decoding serialized data (binary blobs, encrypted configs, etc.). Prior contributions to open-source or tooling projects. This is a 3 month contract role with the possibility of extension
