Senior Infrastructure Engineer at General Purpose Consulting LLC. Remote Location: United States. **Location preference: New Haven, CT. Open to remote applicants. US-only.. AI is changing what people can make, solve, and achieve. At GPC, we help businesses turn that possibility into a better way of working.. We start with people: their ambitions, their frustrations, and the workarounds they have learned to live with. We train teams, help new habits take hold, deploy useful systems, and maintain them as the business evolves. We call the thinking behind this Applied Imagination: asking better questions, challenging assumptions, and making possibilities tangible.. This role helps make that work secure and dependable. You will help GPC and our clients turn internal automations, AI-enabled skills, and production web applications into systems people can trust in their daily work.. You will work directly with client IT and security leaders, understand the environment in front of you, and help our engineers build a secure path to production. You will contribute hands-on engineering while setting the standard for release quality across engagements. The work calls for someone who loves constant learning, keeps experimenting, and brings experienced engineering judgment to what gets shipped.. What you will own. Understand each client's environment.. Ask the questions that surface hosting constraints, system dependencies, data boundaries, access policies, and approval requirements. Explain the options clearly and agree on the rules of the road with client IT and security teams.. Build GPC's client paths to production.. Assess how we build and deploy today, then improve the development and release process. Create practical deployment patterns, documentation, and checks that engineers can reuse while adapting to each client's requirements.. Own technical release readiness.. Define QA and production-readiness criteria, review engineering work, and verify that required controls, guardrails, and approvals are in place before release. Maintain visibility across accounts and make risks and unresolved issues clear to the team and client.. Make access deliberate.. Establish how integrations receive the permissions they need, including the difference between reading data and changing it. Work with client owners on identity, credentials, access controls, and approval boundaries for enterprise systems and SaaS tools.. Stay hands-on.. Build and troubleshoot infrastructure, deployment automation, and integrations alongside our engineers. Help internal tools and LLM-enabled workflows move from a useful prototype into the client's approved production environment.. Improve the engineering system.. Coach teammates through reviews and shared patterns. Strengthen the engineering controls and evidence that support GPC's progress toward SOC 2 readiness, in coordination with whoever owns the wider compliance effort.. What you bring. You have substantial experience building, deploying, and supporting web applications or enterprise infrastructure. You can show systems you helped put into production, explain the decisions you made, and describe what happened when something went wrong. You can work in the implementation details as well as the architecture conversation.. You understand cloud hosting, deployment pipelines, networking, identity and access management, certificates, secrets, and production monitoring. You have depth in at least one major cloud environment and can learn your way around another. Experience with Microsoft environments, Google Workspace, Linux, enterprise integrations, and distributed engineering teams is useful. Tools such as AWS, Azure, GitHub Actions, and Cloudflare are examples of relevant experience; . we do not expect mastery of every platform. .. Clients trust you because you listen, explain tradeoffs without hiding behind jargon, and follow through. You can challenge an unsafe shortcut and still help the team find a workable way forward. You enjoy using AI and LLM tools, can discuss their limitations and client-data boundaries, and want to help teams use them well. Bring a practical example of something you have tried, built, or secured with AI.. How we will work together. This is a hands-on role working with GPC's engineers, client consultants, and client IT and security teams. You will contribute to client delivery and provide technical oversight across engagements. The working direction is a senior individual contributor with technical leadership responsibilities; formal people-management duties and the reporting line remain to be agreed.
