The Mechanical Engineer will be a member of our hiring partner's Brazil team - The position can be remote but will report to the Staff Engineer out of Campinas/SP. The Brazil team reports into the Head of Product based in HQ in NYC.. The Candidate:. You have experience engineering new products and/or handling touchpoints throughout the concept to manufacturing journey. You've either built or supported bringing new products to the world, handling mechanical engineering design, research, testing, prototyping, and validation.. You have experience working with mass manufactured product and are familiar with a variety of materials. You're willing to research, learn, adapt and take initiative but not afraid of taking on challenges.. The Job:. As Mechanical Engineer, you will:. - Help to lead (and lead) development work from product definition through manufacturing.. - Communicate progress to team members and project requirements for development and manufacturing.. - Work closely with NYC and Asia teams to communicate and determine direction & solve development problems as they arise.. - Collaborate with NY/Asia engineering teams to ensure the engineering designs meet client requirements and design intent.. The Responsibilities:. - Assist and lead Mechanical Design: Support the design and development of product by creating 3D CAD models, producing engineering drawings, and necessary documentation. i.e. lead mechanical design engineering of a product from inception to manufacturing.. - Prototyping & Testing: Build and test prototypes to validate designs, including hands-on assembly and working with external suppliers for prototype development.. - Ensure efficient product development cycle with detailed prototyping, testing, and validation throughout the process.. - Ensuring designs align with performance, material, and cost targets determined for each project.. - Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with the engineering and design teams to ensure that products meet functional, material, and aesthetic goals. Communicate with marketing, operations, and manufacturing teams to align on project updates and requirements.. - Support and Create Documentation: Assist with maintaining and updating CAD models and related product documentation (3D, 2D, etc.).. - Product Testing: Help conduct off-tool and in-market sample testing, participate in troubleshooting and debugging design issues, and recommend improvements.. - Learn from Experienced Engineers: Continue to build experience in various materials and different stages of product development while learning best practices from senior and staff engineers.. - Support Supply Chain Efforts: Collaborate with the sourcing and supply chain teams to help gather information and support procurement of materials and components. Providing technical feedback and assets to support sourcing & supply chain teams, working closely with manufacturing engineers and suppliers.. - Handle multiple projects and work independently.. - Provide Engineering Support and Analysis to NY and HK engineering teams.. - Build inhouse prototypes or scope external partners to prototype designs.. The Qualifications:. - 3+ years of experience in product development and mechanical engineering. Must have a portfolio with previously launched and manufactured products.. - Proven experience within consumer electronics /household appliance industry and related industries focused on mechanical engineering. - Engineering degree preferably Mechanical Engineering or a related field.. - Highly proficient and deeply familiar with CAD tools (Solidworks, Onshape, or Creo) and prior experience with a variety of prototyping approaches. - Hands-on experience with prototyping, 3D printing, or other fabrication tools is a plus.. - Experience with a wide range of materials (plastics, metals, rubbers) and knowledge informing the material selection process.. - Problem-solving mindset: Ability to approach challenges methodically applying analytical skills with proactive issue resolution- creating and guiding root cause analysis and DOE's.. - Passion for product development: Interest in consumer product design, manufacturing, and mechanical systems.. - Strong communication skills: Ability to work well with cross-functional teams and convey technical concepts clearly. Strong Presentation skills - especially conveying technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.. - Excellent project management skills- with experience tracking numerous development projects simultaneously.. - Ability to travel to Asia including Hong Kong, China, Vietnam, South Korea, and Taiwan.. - High level proficiency in English language- written and spoken. Working Hours. While our work involves coordination predominantly with NY Team, there are meetings that are scheduled outside of traditional 9-6 working hours to accommodate the HK team.
