This hands-on leadership role focuses on day-to-day practice operations, client service delivery, and team management. The Accounting Manager will serve as the operational leader and head accountant, ensuring high-quality service delivery while building strong client relationships and developing staff capabilities.. Key Responsibilities. Practice Operations Leadership. Oversee daily operations and workflow management of the accounting practice. Serve as head accountant with direct responsibility for service quality and delivery. Manage client engagement processes from intake through completion. Ensure adherence to professional standards and quality control procedures. Monitor practice performance metrics and operational efficiency. Client Service Management. Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients across all service lines. Oversee tax preparation, compliance, and planning services. Manage financial statement preparation and review procedures. Handle complex client issues and serve as primary point of contact for major accounts. Drive client retention and satisfaction initiatives. Team Leadership & Development. Manage and develop existing accounting staff and support personnel. Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching and mentorship. Oversee staff workload allocation and capacity planning. Support professional development and continuing education initiatives. Foster positive team culture and maintain high morale. Technical Excellence. Ensure accurate and timely completion of all client deliverables. Review and approve complex tax returns and financial statements. Stay current with tax law changes and accounting standards updates. Collaborate with Practice Leader on growth strategies and initiatives. Preferred Qualifications. CPA certification (active and in good standing). 5-8 years of progressive public accounting experience. 2+ years of supervisory or team leadership experience. Strong technical expertise across core accounting services. Experience managing client relationships and service delivery. Technical Skills. Expert-level proficiency in tax preparation and compliance. Strong financial statement preparation and review capabilities. Proficiency with accounting software and practice management systems.
