About the Role. We’re looking for a (Senior) Payment Operations Specialist with a focus on debt recovery and issue escalation support. In this role, you’ll take ownership of WeTravel’s debt recovery process — from identifying overdue balances and following up with clients to collaborating cross-functionally to maintain financial integrity.. You’ll combine financial acumen with clear, empathetic communication to ensure that organizers are supported while driving timely resolution of user issues and outstanding payments. This is a senior individual contributor role with significant autonomy, visibility, and collaboration across teams including Sales, Account Management, Finance, and KYC.. What You’ll Do. Own and execute WeTravel’s debt collection and recovery processes, including direct client outreach, payment reminders, and follow-up communications.. Engage with organizers and clients via email, phone, and video calls to resolve outstanding payments while maintaining strong relationships.. Help manage and oversee high value dispute and chargeback processes.. Have tough but productive conversations with commercial teams (Sales & Account Managers) and internal stakeholders to align on recovery strategies, client situations, and escalation paths.. Collaborate closely with the internal operations and Finance teams to support client complaints, escalations, and dispute resolution, ensuring all actions comply with contractual and regulatory frameworks.. Recommend and implement policy and process enhancements to improve efficiency, compliance, and transparency in collections.. Support broader payment operations initiatives, including payments screening, risk review, and payment process improvements.. Serve as a trusted internal expert on client payment recovery, escalations, and financial follow-up.. Who You Are. 4–6 years of experience in collections, accounts receivable, payment operations, or a related legal/financial role, ideally in fintech, SaaS, or travel-related industries.. Proven ability to communicate directly with clients and internal teams, including Sales and Account Management.. Experienced in customer support within financial operations, including phone and video call support with a professional and empathetic approach to resolving client issues and discussing payment matters.. Strong understanding of payment platforms, chargeback and disputes resolution, reconciliation, and financial reporting.. Fluent in English, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.. Empathetic yet assertive. You are comfortable navigating difficult conversations with both clients and colleagues.. Highly organized, analytical, and self-driven. You act as an owner and thrive in a fast-paced, remote environment.. Experienced working cross-functionally and driving process improvements in payments, finance, or legal operations.. Bonus Points For. Spanish or any other bi-lingual proficiency. Familiarity with SQL and data visualization tools like Tableau and Looker. Experience in international or cross-border payments..
