Digital Designer (UI/UX) at Userism. Location Information: Remote. . About the role. We're looking for a Digital Designer with a strong UI/UX focus to join our team on a remote basis. You'll work across the full design process, from early UX thinking through to polished, production-ready UI, on a varied mix of web, eCommerce, and app projects for clients in manufacturing, retail, and B2B services.. You'll be involved from early discovery through to final handover, with real ownership of your work rather than just executing on someone else's thinking. As a remote team member, you'll need to be confident working independently, communicating clearly in writing, and collaborating across time zones.. We're a remote-first team, but we also have an office in the Greater Manchester area, so if you're local and prefer a hybrid setup, that works for us too.. https://userism.agency/careers/digital-designer-remote. What you'll be doing. Your day-to-day will span the full design lifecycle, including:. UX & Discovery. Contributing to (and occasionally leading) remote project discovery workshops. Competitor analysis, content and feature reviews. Persona building, empathy mapping, and user journey development. Information architecture and user flow design. Low and high fidelity wireframing across multiple devices. UI & Visual Design. Designing clean, modern, accessible interfaces for websites, eCommerce platforms, and apps. Creating layout systems, typography, colour schemes, and component libraries. Responsive design with careful consideration for all screen sizes and browsers. Building interactive prototypes and presenting concepts to clients and stakeholders. Working within Atomic Design principles to build reusable, maintainable component systems. Collaboration & Delivery. Working closely with developers (often asynchronously) to ensure accurate handover and implementation. Participating in design reviews and stakeholder presentations via video calls. Contributing to QA and heuristic evaluation at project delivery stages. Documenting design decisions clearly so the wider team can pick them up without context loss. Skills & experience. We're looking for someone who can demonstrate genuine ability across both UX and UI. Not just familiarity, but a solid portfolio of real-world work. Specifically:. 5+ years of professional UI/UX or digital design experience. A strong portfolio showing end-to-end design work, from early UX through to final UI. Confident written and verbal communication, particularly important in a remote setting. A structured approach to problem-solving and information architecture. Proficiency in Figma (Adobe XD a plus), and comfort switching between tools as needed. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop). Experience with responsive and accessible design (WCAG familiarity welcome). Familiarity with Atomic Design methodology is a strong advantage. Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage your own time across projects. An eye for detail and a genuine interest in how people interact with digital products. What we're like. Userism is a digital design and development agency, remote-first, with team members spread across multiple countries and a base in Ancoats, Manchester. We work with clients in manufacturing, retail, and B2B, designing digital products that are clean, considered, and genuinely useful. We want people who'll add to how we think and work, not just slot in and execute.. Salary. £30,000 - £45,000 per year, depending on experience.. Please note:. we do not need any help from recruitment agents or consultants at this time, thanks.. .
