Our values guide how we show up for each other and our community every day.. . We are looking for a Staff Battery Quality Engineer to join our Supply Chain team in San Francisco, California. In this pivotal role, you will act as a senior technical leader and a go-to expert for all battery and electronic module quality initiatives. You will be responsible for defining the long-term quality strategy, leading critical New Product Introduction (NPI) programs, and serving as the primary technical liaison between Oura’s internal Battery Design & Integration teams and our global manufacturing partners.. . This role moves beyond collaboration to strategic influence. You will champion a culture of quality, providing deep technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams. Your expertise will not only ensure product quality from the concept phase through high-volume mass production but also shape the processes that allow our supply chain to scale and innovate.. . This is a hybrid role based out of our San Francisco office with the expectation to be onsite 3 days per week.. . What you will do:. . . Quality Systems & Controls:. Serve as the technical owner for Oura’s battery and module quality systems. Define and implement robust quality control processes and standards that span the entire supply chain, from raw materials to final assembly.. . New Product Introduction (NPI) Leadership:. Lead all quality engineering efforts for NPI programs, providing expert guidance on battery design, specifications, and manufacturing processes. You will be the technical lead for all quality deliverables, including build readiness reviews and post-build data analysis, ensuring quality is built in from the ground up.. . Systemic Failure Analysis:. Lead the most complex and systemic root cause analysis investigations for battery and module-related failures, working across both internal design teams and external vendors to drive lasting corrective actions. Mentor and guide other engineers in advanced problem-solving methodologies.. . Technical Guidance & Influence:. Act as a primary technical advisor and subject matter expert (SME) to cross-functional teams, including electrical, mechanical, firmware, and systems engineering. Your insights will directly influence product architecture, reliability, and manufacturability for both current and future products.. . New Technologies:. Clear understanding of current and future battery technologies, their associated value adds and manufacturing challenges. . . Data-Driven Decisions:. Architect and implement systems to capture, analyze, and leverage reliable quality data for critical technical and business decisions. You will use this data to identify and proactively mitigate design and process risks.. . Supplier Strategy & Leadership:. Define and implement the long-term supplier quality strategy for battery and electronics modules. Lead comprehensive assessments and audits of both new and existing global suppliers, forging strategic partnerships to ensure consistent quality and performance.. . . Requirements. . We would love to have you on our team if you have:. . . BS in Engineering. (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related field) is required; an advanced degree is a plus.. . 8-10  years. of experience in Supplier Quality, Manufacturing Quality, or Process Engineering, with significant experience in. battery cells. (especially prismatic pouch cells), . packs. , and . electronic modules. .. . Expert-level experience working with high-volume . consumer electronics. , . wearables. , or . medical devices. with stringent quality and cosmetic standards.. . Proven track record qualifying and auditing complex manufacturing processes for both . batteries. (cell manufacturing, pack assembly) and other . electronic modules. (PCBA, SMT, flex circuits).. . Deep expertise in quality principles and tools such as . GRR. , . SPC. , . FA/CA. , . 8D. , and . DOEs. , with the ability to teach and apply them to complex, real-world problems.. . A comprehensive understanding of manufacturing principles such as . DFM. , . GD&T. , . Six Sigma. , and . LEAN. manufacturing.. . Demonstrated experience collaborating cross‑functionally on . test design. , . specification setting. , and . data analysis. (e.g., SPC dashboards, MSA/GRR, DOE interpretation) for NPI and sustaining.. . Self-driven and eager problem solver. who thrives in demanding, quick-paced environments.. .
