Senior Systems-Minded TypeScript Engineer at o1Labs. . Location: Remote. At O(1) Labs, our mission is to catalyze a new generation of applications powered by zero-knowledge cryptography. We are looking for a talented and motivated senior engineer to join the O(1) Labs Engineering team. This is a chance to join a small, collaborative team and have a ton of independence while working on fascinating, inter-disciplinary problems. . . The role. . You’ll sit at the heart of our SDK team, owning the low-level layers where JavaScript, WASM, and OCaml shake hands. Your mission is to make zkApps feel like normal TypeScript while hiding the gnarly parts of FFI, workers, and cryptographic proof systems.. . You Will. . * Build & maintain o1js - extend the TypeScript API, refine Rust and WASM bindings, and keep both Node and browser targets up to date.. * Design resilient boundaries – shape data layouts, memory ownership, and call conventions across JS <-> WASM <-> Rust. * Level-up concurrency - architect reliable concurrent (Web) Worker and Rayon pipelines improve user experience, performance and reliability. * Streamline developer experience - craft build pipelines, tooling, and observability hooks so contributors spot bottlenecks before users do.. * Ship performance wins – profile, benchmark, and optimise our product.. * Mentor & unblock – review PRs with kindness, write clear design docs, and turn tricky concepts into learning moments for the team and community.. . About You. . * Seasoned TypeScript engineer who thinks in types first and enjoys simple yet powerful TypeScript and JavaScript APIs. * Systems-oriented - comfortable jumping between browser quirks, Node internals, and Rust lifetimes to find bugs and improvements.. * WASM-savvy – have shipped Rust-to-WASM modules (or similar) and understand how to keep the glue code lean and reliable.. * Concurrency fluent – know when to spin up a Web Worker, how to share memory, and how to dodge race conditions.. * Mentor at heart – you enjoy simplifying complex ideas and watching others level up.. . Bonus Points. . * . Hands-on Rust or functional-programming experience.. * Experience with diving into perf tools and improving performance.. * Prior work on SDKs, compilers, interpreters, or other developer tooling.. * Public footprint - open-source projects, technical blogs, conference talks.. . Signals we love to see. . * GitHub repos of TypeScript and JavaScript libraries or Rust/WASM experiments.. * Contributions to Web3 tooling, zk projects, or other open-source infra.. * Evidence of end-to-end ownership: from design doc to release, docs, and community support.. . We have experienced veterans in these areas, and are more interested in hearing about your particular background than specifying a required set of skills. The ideal candidate is passionate about functional programming in TypeScript, and can bring a range of additional expertise to a complex, collaborative environment.. . About us. . O(1) Labs is the team that incubated, launched and contributes to Mina Protocol, a Layer 1 blockchain that compresses the blockchain from hundreds of gigabytes down to the size of a few tweets and can scale to millions of users while remaining decentralized enough for cell phones to be fully verifying nodes. Using the power of Mina and zk technology we are at the forefront of building a privacy centered Web 3.0. . . With this work we are driving the potential to reimagine social structures. We believe in and are dedicated to incorporating diverse perspectives from conception through realization.
