Chainguard is building the secure-by-default foundation for modern software, and we’re scaling fast. As we expand globally, we’re looking for a Regulatory Attorney who can help us grow without friction. In this role, you’ll own international regulatory workstreams end-to-end, transforming complex and evolving frameworks into practical guidance that enables the business to move with confidence.. . This is a high-impact builder role for someone who sees regulation as an enabler, not a blocker. You’ll work closely with teams across Sales, Security, Product, HR, Procurement, and Ops to keep Chainguard compliant while preserving speed and focus. An experienced EU-based regulatory attorney who owns global regulatory workstreams end-to-end and helps Chainguard scale internationally. . Primary owner of new country regulatory diligence, ongoing compliance, and day-to-day execution. . Confident engaging directly with EU and UK regulators and responding to government inquiries and audits. . Expert at translating frameworks such as NIS2, the Cyber Resilience Act, and DORA into crisp, business-ready guidance. . Trusted partner who keeps Chainguard regulatory-sound abroad without slowing down product, sales, or operations. . Independent, pragmatic operator who thrives in fast-moving environments and makes smart calls with incomplete information. . . What you’ll do. . . Lead global regulatory matters from first question to final answer, including diligence, import/export compliance, submissions, and consultations. . Translate dense regulatory text into clear playbooks, templates, and guardrails that help teams move faster with confidence. . Partner daily with Sales, Security, Product, HR, Procurement, and Ops to support global go-to-market and market expansion. . Track regulatory and legislative developments worldwide and quickly separate what matters from what does not. . Build scalable regulatory processes that work across regions and grow with the company. . Step in beyond core regulatory work when needed, bringing high judgment, low ego, and a strong bias toward action. . Balance regulatory, security, and compliance risk with business momentum by focusing on what actually matters. . . What you’ll bring. . . Law degree such as an LLM or equivalent and qualification in at least one European jurisdiction. . Six or more years of regulatory experience, ideally a blend of top-tier law firm and in-house roles. . Deep expertise in EU and UK regulatory frameworks impacting software, open source, digital services, and emerging technologies. . Proven experience working with regulators, managing cross-border regulatory issues, and driving regulatory strategy. . Builder mindset with a track record of creating guidance, templates, playbooks, or processes from scratch. . Strong business intuition and comfort advising on real-world tradeoffs rather than theoretical risk. . Clear, confident communicator who builds trust across technical, commercial, and operational teams. . Energy for fast-paced, ambiguous environments where the playbook is still being written. .
