As a Trade Settlement Associate focused on Futures and Equities at Gelber, you will have a real opportunity to have a long-term career in Operations at a successful trading firm. You will work side by side with not only several teams within Operations but interact with traders that trade across many different asset classes. This role is for someone who flourishes in a fast-paced environment, has a strong work ethic, clear communication, and has a strong interest in growing their career within operations and back office in capital markets. This position will report directly into the Trade Operations Manager who reports directly into the Chief Operating Officer. You will also have many opportunities to interact with different managers within settlements for additional exposure.. . This position will require in person presence in our Chicago office located in River North right next to the Merchandise Mart and convenient to public transportation. This position will initially require 4-5 days per week onsite, with potential for more days remote per week in the future. . (This is an early morning shift role, with standard working hours 6am to 2pm Central Time). . You will be required to work some holidays, due to when the exchanges are open in other countries.. . What you’ll do:. . . Monitoring and overseeing trading activity in all asset classes traded looking for potential issues and following up with those traders at Gelber. . Working with third parties such as Brokers or Clearing Firms. . Working closely with not only all trading groups, but senior management, and across all of back/middle office. . Analyze and problem solve position and P&L breaks between traders and back-office systems. . Oversight of the trade life cycle from verifying execution, to booking, to settlement of the trade. . As your career progresses, the opportunity to bring settlements and clearing together by developing skills across both areas and training others at Gelber. . Daily balancing to our Prime Brokers. . . What you’ll need:. . . Bachelor’s Degree. . 0-3 years of work experience in an operational position. . Basic knowledge using SQL, Excel, and Outlook. . Interest in Capital Markets. . Strong critical thinking skills, high attention to detail, ability to multi-task, and a strong sense of urgency. . Willingness to cross train in all areas of Settlements across many different asset classes including FX, Futures, Treasuries, and Equities. . Ability to work AM shift from 6am to 2 pm central, Monday through Friday. . Willingness to work some holidays due to when exchanges are open in other countries.. . . The approximate annual base compensation range for this position . in Chicago, IL.  is $50,000 to $70,000. The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package plus benefits, will be determined by a number of factors which include but are not limited to the applicant’s experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities; geographic location; and internal equity.
