Underwriting Multifamily Property Inspector. is responsible for conducting thorough inspections of multifamily properties to assess their condition and ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations in conjunction with the origination of new loans under Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae programs. This role involves evaluating structural integrity, safety features, and overall maintenance of properties as well as conducting tenant file audits and surveying comparable properties. The inspector documents findings, prepares detailed reports, and communicates any issues or concerns to the credit underwriting team. Additionally, the Property Inspector may provide recommendations for repairs or improvements and have discussions with 3rd party property condition assessment report providers. This position requires a keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, the ability to work independently while adhering to local building codes and safety regulations, and strong customer service skills.. . Conduct new loan origination property inspections across the U.S. Property types will include conventional multifamily apartments, affordable multifamily apartments, manufactured housing, and seniors housing.. . Schedule inspections in an orderly and cost-efficient manner to ensure timely completion.. . Be able to travel on short notice to meet transaction deadlines.. . Review property condition and environmental reports for findings and to incorporate any additional concerns identified during the site inspection.. . In addition to inspecting the property exterior and unit interiors, complete on-site lease file audits, property management questionnaire, and visit sales and rent comparables.. . Complete applicable internal outputs and applicable funding source inspection reports (Fannie Mae – MBA Inspection form/Freddie Mac – Optigo Happy digital inspection platform).. . Assist in reviewing property condition reports, environmental reports, and outputs completed by others within Berkadia.. . Evaluate and note concerns with regards to structural integrity, systems functionality, and overall property maintenance during inspections.. . Accurately document inspection results and communicate them to the credit underwriting team.. . Manage multiple inspection appointments efficiently to meet deadlines as well as coordinate property inspection date and time with the property owner and the applicable funding source.. . Participate in ongoing education and training to stay updated on the latest industry standards and inspection techniques.. . Assist in the development and revision of inspection processes and protocols to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.. . Other duties as assigned.. . . High level of organization and time management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.. . Ability to travel on short notice.. . Completion of Mortgage Bankers Association Multifamily Property Inspection certificate class and proficiency with Freddie Mac Optigo Happy digital inspection platform are a plus.. .
