The Student Professional Development and Career Readiness team ensures that our students are equipped with the knowledge, skills, abilities, mindsets and experiences necessary to drive and chart their professional and career development journeys during and beyond their ALU Experience. This team performs two basic functions:. 1. Professional Development Preparation & Guidance; and. 2. Employer Partnerships & Placements,. Together these core work streams provide a cohesive framework that ensures that students leave ALU with confidence in their abilities to drive their career journeys, irrespective of the paths they choose to pursue.. The Student Professional Development Sr. Associate is responsible for delivering high-quality student professional skills and career development initiatives for ALU-Rwanda. The person filling this role guides, supports and empowers students on their career journey through the provision of coaching, tools, and work-ready practice opportunities that prepare the students for their internships and work opportunities. . Mission Career Development team. . . Team:. ● Student Interns. . Responsibilities:. Student Support & Career Development. . . Analyze data from Internship Cycles and Skills Immersion Term feedback to identify student professional development needs and recommend targeted support strategies.. . Provide 1:1 and group career coaching to help students develop key professional skills, including resume writing, interview techniques, networking, and job search strategies.. . Customize professional development support by assessing individual student goals, strengths, and areas for growth, ensuring a tailored approach to career coaching.. . Facilitate connections between students and mentors, including faculty, alumni, and employer partners, to provide industry-specific career insights and guidance.. . Utilize digital tools and career development resources to enhance accessibility and engagement for both in-person and remote students.. . Collaborate with faculty and employer partners to align career development initiatives with industry expectations and student learning outcomes.. . Track and report on student engagement and program impact, using data-driven insights to refine career support strategies and improve student readiness for internships and full-time employment.. . . Events, Series & Sessions. . . Design, coordinate, and execute weekly and signature career development events that engage both in-person and remote students, ensuring impactful learning experiences.. . Oversee the full lifecycle of external guest engagement, including identifying, onboarding, and maintaining a network of industry professionals, alumni, and thought leaders to deliver diversesessions, speaker series, and workshops.. . Track, analyze, and report on student engagement metrics for all Student Professional Development (SPD) events, using insights to enhance programming and maximize impact.. . Work closely with ALU Rwanda faculty and staff to co-create events and sessions that expose students to career opportunities across various industries and sectors, fostering meaningful professional exploration and connections.. . . Curriculum Design & Delivery. . . Collaborate with the LEDI to design and maintain asynchronous Career Readiness content based on best practices and trends as and when needed.. . Create and maintain internal/external mentorship programs for students across programs and campuses.. . Facilitate formal and semi-formal student learning, both within the curriculum and adjacent to it. (This may include facilitating Professional Skills or Skills Immersion modules or sessions within them, as. appropriate.). . . Collaboration and Communication:. . . Implement the student professional development work streams to ensure the delivery of professional and career development programmes to drive student career readiness and placement.. . Build strong relationships with faculty, staff, and students to foster a collaborative environment where everyone is working together to support student professional development and career readiness.. . Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders by sharing data, highlighting successes, and advocating for resources to support student success initiatives.. . Work closely with the overall student professional development, career readiness design lead, employer partner and placement teams to ensure effective implementation of those systems across both campuses, as well as to contribute to a continuous feedback and improvement cycle.. . . Institutional Service. . . As with all staff, the Student Professional Development Sr. Associates will be expected to participate in institutional service, such as serving on committees, participating periodically in outreach activities, engaging in professional development and company retreats, and the like.. . . Ensure the safety and well-being of all young persons and vulnerable adults with whom we deal,  by adhering to ALU’s comprehensive safeguarding policy, maintaining a zero-tolerance approach to any violations of safeguarding standards. . . REQUIREMENTS. . Minimum. . . A Bachelor’s degree + a postgraduate Diploma, preferably in fields related to education, career development, experiential learning, or the like.. . A minimum of 3 years in one or more non-academic professional contexts.. . A minimum of 1 year experience in working with students in a university setting, in an instructional or mentoring role.. . Ability to navigate uncertainty and ambiguity and the confidence to adopt an experimental and iterative approach finding new and creative ways of addressing student support needs.. . Project management skills, particularly strong work planning, prioritization and stakeholder engagement and management.. . Excellent written, verbal communication and research skills.. . Based in Rwanda or willing to relocate.. . . Preferred. . . Master’s degree in fields related to education, career development, experiential learning, or the like.. . Additional years of experience in academic and non-academic settings, particularly in Africa.. . Tech savviness: ability to quickly learn to use new technologies, software and tools.. . Experience facilitating learning in online, blended, and in person settings.. . .
