Position Overview:. . The . English Immersion Program. at the . African Leadership University (ALU). is designed to provide non-native English speakers with the necessary skills to enhance their proficiency in English. The program's aim is to empower individuals by improving their ability to communicate effectively in a globalised world. The . English Enhancement Program. is designed to support individuals who have a baseline English level of CEFR B2 in improving their English and obtaining a proficiency level of CEFR C1 or higher. The . Student Success Facilitator. will play a key role in delivering with one, or both of these programs and supporting participants throughout their learning journey.. . Key Responsibilities:. . . Facilitate the delivery of each of the 30 English Immersion/Enhancement Program sessions over each 10-week program duration. . Conduct regular Office Hours with Online/In-person English Immersion/Enhancement participants to further mentor them and support their language acquisition. . Weekly meetings with the Student Success Team. . Assistwith building the Student Success Programs resource bank. . Collect, analysing and documenting data (student attendance and engagement, etc.). . Administering and monitoring the English Immersion/Enhancement Program deliverables on the LMS. . Planning and executing, as well as delegating responsibilities for signature events (Social Events, etc.). . Maintaining the confidentiality of information pertaining to the English proficiency of students. . Acting as a role model and representing ALU values and ethical standards. . . Participation in brainstorming sessions to improve engagement and impact. . Managing, mentoring and guiding the relevant Student Success Interns. . . Requirements:. . . A minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution of higher education. . Internship and/or experience teaching English as a Second/Foreign language (Eg. TEFL; ESL). . Proven high level of English proficiency. . No history of behavioural incidents or breach of academic integrity. . Experience in English language instruction. . Excellent time management. . Strong commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion. . Ability to navigate uncertainty and ambiguity, and the confidence to adopt an experimental and iterative approach, finding new and creative ways of addressing student support needs.. . Strong organisational skills, ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines at once. . Excellent written and verbal communication skills. . Tech savviness: ability to quickly learn to use new technologies, software and tools. . Experience working at a higher education institution in Africa. . Experience with project management. . Experience with interacting with the Learning Management System, Canvas. . . Location:  Remote/In-person. . Statement of Work: Student Success Facilitator. . The Student Success Facilitator is responsible for delivering a high-quality learning experience through the English Immersion Program and other Student Success Products. This role will require facilitating sessions, providing mentorship, and ensuring that students are supported throughout their language acquisition process. The facilitator will work in close collaboration with the Student Success Team and other key stakeholders to drive program success and improve student engagement.. Facilitate a minimum of 30 in-person/online English Immersion or other Student Success Products sessions. :.. . . Ensure effective delivery of content. that aligns with the program's learning objectives.. . Track student progress and performance. , providing timely feedback to learners.. . Administer and monitor all program-related deliverables. within the Learning Management System (LMS), specifically Canvas.. . . Student Support. . . Conduct weekly Office Hours. to support student learning and provide individualised mentoring.. . Offer proactive support. to students to enhance their language acquisition process.. . Maintain regular communication with students. to ensure they are engaged and progressing in the program.. . . Terms of Employment. . . Compensation. : The . Student Success Facilitator. will be paid . only for 20 hours per week . during each program.. . Non-Continuous Work Periods. : There may be . breaks between program cohorts. during which there may be . no work. . The facilitator is not expected to work or receive compensation during these periods, but may accept work on an ad-hoc basis. . . . The facilitator should be aware that the . Student Success Programs do not run back to back. , so there will be intervals throughout the year with no scheduled work. Payment will be made based on the number of hours worked during each cohort.
