Staff Software Engineer, Backend at PathAI. . Location: Boston, MA or Remote. Who We Are. . PathAI is on a mission to improve patient outcomes with AI-powered pathology. At PathAI, you'll work with a diverse and talented team of people, who are dedicated to solving complex problems and making a huge impact.. . What You’ll Do . . . Solve complex backend challenges using high-quality code. . Design, build, maintain, and evolve scalable backend services and APIs (e.g., FastAPI, Django REST). . Define and own the architecture of large components and platforms. . Collaborate closely with ML, product, frontend, and infrastructure teams to deliver end-to-end systems. . Maintain excellence in testing, CI/CD, and code reviews. . Mentor senior and mid-level engineers, promoting best practices. . Contribute to software regulated as medical devices, ensuring quality and compliance. . . What You’ll Need. . . Bachelor’s degree in CS or equivalent experience. . 5+ years in backend development (full lifecycle delivery). . Strong experience with FastAPI and/or Django REST framework. . Solid grasp of data structures, algorithms, and system design. . Experience with cloud-native systems (AWS preferred), containerization, and orchestration (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes). . Proficiency with CI/CD platforms (e.g., GitLab CI, Docker pipelines). . . We Want to Hear From You. .
