Technical Writer/Communications Lead at Akima. Location Information: USA. AIS is looking for a Technical Writer/Communications Lead to work in Oak Ridge, TN.  The Manufacturing Energy Efficiency Research & Analysis (MEERA) Group in the Manufacturing Science Division (MSD) at Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), is seeking a Technical Writer and Communications Lead to develop and manage a variety of high-impact communication materials. This position augments ORNL's industrial energy efficiency team that is operating in support of DOE's Better Plants and Better Climate Challenge programs. Through these technical assistance programs, the MEERA group develops a diverse portfolio of industrial energy efficiency tools and resources which are delivered to the manufacturing sector through various technical assistance and training events worldwide. This role will contribute to the dissemination of industrial energy efficiency resources by developing fact sheets, guidance documents, case studies, blog posts, and internal reports. Responsibilities. Develop, write, and edit technical content including fact sheets, case studies, partner spotlights, guidance documents, algorithm documents, web content, and training materials.. Collaborate with engineers, program managers, and external partners to capture key insights and project outcomes.. Support layout and formatting of reports and documents to ensure visual consistency and accessibility.. Maintain editorial and branding standards across all materials in alignment with DOE and ORNL guidelines.. Assist with tracking and updating technical resource libraries on the DOE and ORNL Better Plants websites.. Coordinate internal reviews and approval processes for published materials.. Support content development for newsletters, conference posters, and presentations.. Work with the data team to interpret findings and present them in a clear, compelling narrative format.. Provide communication support for events, training, and partner engagement initiatives.. . Qualifications. Bachelor’s degree in communications, Technical Writing, Environmental Science Communication, Public Policy, Engineering, or a related field.. Minimum 4 years of experience in technical writing, editing, or science communication (preferably in energy, sustainability, or industrial sectors).. Strong command of English grammar, style, and clarity in both technical and non-technical writing.. Proven ability to synthesize and present technical concepts for general and professional audiences.. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel); familiarity with Adobe tools (InDesign, Acrobat) is a plus.. Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment with subject matter experts.. Experience interpreting, organizing, and analyzing data from multiple sources.. Demonstrated ability to work with multiple levels of management or technical personnel.. Demonstrated ability to work independently on multiple time-constrained projects and to successfully complete each.. Desired Qualifications:. Experience with industrial energy management programs (federal, utility, corporate).. Familiarity with industrial energy efficiency topics or process systems (compressed air, steam, pumps, etc.).. Visual communication experience, including infographics or layout design.. Experience managing web content or digital communications platforms.. Special Requirements:.
