Mercor is seeking PhD holders, doctoral candidates, and outstanding Master’s graduates in physics and related disciplines to join a high-impact AI research initiative in partnership with a leading artificial intelligence lab.. Key Domains. Fundamental & Theoretical Physics: . Theoretical Mechanics, Theoretical Optics, Thermodynamics, Statistical Mechanics, Fluid Physics . Modern & Applied Physics: . Electromagnetism and Photonics, Optics and Acoustics, Atomic and Molecular Physics, Solid State Physics, Semiconductor Physics, Biophysics . Space & Cosmological Sciences: . Astrophysics and Cosmology . Engineering Disciplines & Control Systems: . Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Control Theory and Control Engineering . Key Responsibilities. Evaluate scientific correctness, conceptual rigor, and depth of LLM-generated responses across physics and engineering topics. . Review outputs involving mathematical modeling, experimental methods, and theoretical frameworks in physics. . Identify factual errors, reasoning flaws, and conceptual misunderstandings in model outputs. . Benchmark model performance on advanced physics and applied engineering problems. . Work independently and asynchronously using proprietary evaluation tools. . Requirements. PhD (or PhD candidate) in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field. . Strong command of graduate-level physics and mathematical reasoning. . Excellent written communication and analytical abilities. . Ability to work independently in a remote, asynchronous setting. . Role Details. Part-time (30 hours/week) .
