We are looking for a detail-oriented, analytical Underwriter II to join our operations team who will play a key role in evaluating and decisioning our full suite of Business Purpose Loans — including Residential Transitional Loans (RTL), DSCR (non-consumer), Bridge, Ground-Up Construction, and Portfolio products.. Responsibilities include evaluating borrower creditworthiness, analyzing loan structures, reviewing collateral, and providing clear, risk-based recommendations. This is an experienced-level underwriting role ideal for someone with a strong background in RTL and DSCR products who thrives in a fast-paced environment.. RESPONSIBILITIES. . Underwrite Bridge, Renovation, Ground-Up Construction, and DSCR loans in accordance with company guidelines and investor overlays. . Evaluate borrower profiles including creditworthiness (business and/or individual), DSCR metrics, exit strategies, and collateral. . Interpret property valuations (BPOs, appraisals, AVMs) and flag for inconsistencies. . Analyze construction budgets, scopes of work, and project timelines to ensure feasibility of projects. . . Review loan files including credit reports, bank statements, leases, title, insurance, and entity documents. . Maintain clear, actionable documentation supporting all underwriting decisions. . Apply judgment on exceptions and propose well-supported decisions for approval, counteroffer, or decline. . . Partner with originators, processors, and leadership to ensure smooth file flow and pipeline efficiency. . Communicate proactively to resolve conditions, meet deadlines, and accelerate closing timelines. . KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES. Required:. . 3+ years of underwriting experience in private lending, non-QM, or similar BPL environments. . Proficiency in DSCR loan analysis and RTL loan mechanics. . Experience evaluating 1–4 unit investment properties and residential collateral standards. . Familiarity with entity structures (LLCs, Corporations, Trusts). . Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities. . High attention to detail and a risk-management mindset. . Excellent written and verbal communication skills. . Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven, high-volume environment. . Preferred:. . Experience with Loan Origination Systems (e.g., LendingWise, Encompass, Salesforce, or custom LOS platforms). . Experience working with brokers and investor guidelines. .
