The Technical Editor will play a key part in ensuring the clarity, consistency, and accessibility of complex written deliverables, including technical reports, strategic documents, and proposal content. This role will participate in kickoff and review meetings, collaborate with project and business development staff, and contribute to the full content development process. This role will be responsible for revising content for clarity, comprehension, and consistency, while upholding accessibility and internal style standards. This role is a key partner in the content development process, contributing to the quality and impact of deliverables across teams. Rather than working on a per-project basis, this position is embedded within the team to develop a deep understanding of organizational values, services, and messaging, ensuring every product reflects a unified and thoughtful voice.. Edit technical and narrative content for structure, grammar, tone, clarity, and plain language accessibility.. . Restructure or rewrite content to align with intended audience, project goals, and strategic messaging.. . Attend client and internal kickoff calls to gain context and contribute to editorial planning. . . Maintain consistency across formatting, terminology, and voice, including adherence to style guides and readability standards. . . Apply accessibility best practices, including alt text, logical layout, and appropriate color contrast.. . Review and enhance public-facing documents and key proposal materials including resumes, past performance narratives, and management or technical approaches.. . Provide clear, constructive editorial feedback to team members to strengthen content quality and alignment. . . Edit under tight deadlines while maintaining version control and ensuring compliance with RFP requirements and client expectations.. . Collaborate across time zones and teams via Microsoft Teams and cloud-based tools to track deliverables and integrate input.. .  . Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:. . All AC Disaster Consulting (ACDC) positions are remote work site positions with the home location agreed upon at time of hire.. . If the remote work site locations change, ACDC Human Resources must be made aware, and leadership needs to approve any site changes for business registration and payroll tax purposes.. . Experience/Education Required:. . High school diploma or equivalent.. . 8+ years of technical editing or technical writing experience.. . 3+ years of experience editing public sector or government-facing documents. . . Experience/Education Preferred:. . Prior experience in emergency management, local, state, or federal government. . . Spanish fluency and the ability to edit content in Spanish.. . AICP or CHES certification.. . Completion of FEMA, OSHA, or related government training programs. . . Military or public sector work experience. . . Translation QA/editing experience for public-facing materials. . . Additional Qualifications:. . Must be 18 years of age or older.. .
