The Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) is a not-for-profit membership organization that promotes the health of women and newborns. Our mission is to empower and support nurses caring for women, newborns, and their families through research, education, and advocacy.. POSITION SUMMARY:. The Research & Grants Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational oversight of the organization’s research and grant portfolios, including identifying funding opportunities, coordinating proposal development, managing post-award compliance, and monitoring research activities. This position ensures alignment of research and grant activities with organizational goals and compliance with institutional, federal, and sponsor regulations.. Grant Development & Pre-Award Activities. Research and identify public and private grant opportunities aligned with organizational priorities.. Coordinate the development of grant proposals, including budget preparation, narrative writing, and collaboration with program and finance teams.. Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines and submission requirements.. Serve as a liaison with external funders and partners.. Grant Administration & Post-Award Management. Manage post-award activities including tracking expenditures, submitting progress and financial reports, and ensuring compliance with grant terms and conditions.. Work with finance and program staff to develop budgets, monitor spending, and prepare for audits.. Track deliverables, timelines, and evaluation metrics to ensure grant objectives are met.. Research Coordination. Support researchers and program staff in developing and executing research projects, including IRB submission and compliance.. Assist in data collection, analysis, and dissemination of findings through reports, publications, and presentations.. Promote best practices in ethical research, data security, and responsible conduct of research.. Systems & Reporting. Maintain accurate records in grants management systems or databases.. Develop and provide reports to leadership and external partners on funding progress, grant pipeline, outcomes, and trends.. Support organization-wide capacity building around grant writing and research activities.. CONTACTS . Interfaces with others, both within and outside the organization, to obtain or clarify information, or to provide information or facts. Contacts may be by phone, virtual, or in person. .  . LEADERSHIP . Provide ongoing professional mentoring within the organization, assist in the expansion of learning, and provide tools to help build knowledge, skills, and growth capacity. Serve as a knowledgeable resource for new and current staff. Promote a positive work environment for all staff and effectively collaborate with the leadership team. .  . SUPERVISION . Reports to the Director of Research and Grants and receive work guidance from other department team members as needed. Routine assignments are managed independently. Clear guidance may be given on difficult or non-routine assignments. Occasionally, work is reviewed while in progress. .   . QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS  . Education & Experience. ·         Master’s degree required in Public Administration, Public Health, Nonprofit Management, or related field.. ·         Experience working in a nonprofit, academic, or healthcare setting.. ·         Minimum 3 years of experience in grant writing and management.. ·         Minimum 2 years of experience in research administration.. ·         Familiarity with federal, foundation, and corporate funding sources.. ·         Experience with budget development and management, and financial reporting.. ·         Familiarity with IRB protocols and research ethics.. Skills & Competencies. ·         Strong project management and organizational skills.. ·         Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.. ·         Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.. ·         Knowledge of grant compliance regulations.. ·         Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and research software..
