Scope of Work. Ocean Outcomes is seeking a Senior Consultant to support its expanding global role in social responsibility, human rights, and worker-centered approaches within fisheries and seafood supply chains. Reporting to the Social Responsibility Senior Manager, the Consultant will support ongoing projects and serve as an advisor helping O2 strengthen approaches to human rights due diligence (HRDD) that center workers. The role focuses on advancing globally relevant, partnership-driven HRDD and worker engagement approaches, including risk identification, mitigation, remediation, and continuous improvement, with a focus on practical implementation at scale.. Priority Project Responsibilities: Consortium on Social Risks in Seafood. A core focus of this consultancy will be supporting a grant-funded project to strengthen and scale HRDD through O2’s partnership with the . Consortium on Social Risks in Seafood. , a multi-stakeholder initiative (Conservation International, Fishwise, and LRQA) dedicated to advancing responsible labor practices across global seafood supply chains.. A goal of this project is to enable the seafood industry to independently sustain human rights due diligence systems beyond philanthropic support. In collaboration with Consortium partners, O2 and the Consultant will support the following deliverables and objectives:. Scale and strengthen HRDD tools and resources, including those supporting Social Responsibility Assessment (SRA) tool implementation and remediation processes.. Support the development of targeted guidance, tools, and training materials to help seafood companies operationalize responsible labor practices.. Contribute to the design of an industry-focused workshop focused on emerging human rights trends, risks, and implementation challenges in seafood supply chains.. Support an evaluation of long-term financial sustainability of the Consortium’s HRDD tools and services.. Help align partner organizations’ long-term strategies, governance, and value propositions to ensure the Consortium’s collective expertise, services, and business model are positioned for durable impact and financial viability.. Additional Responsibilities. In addition to the project specific responsibilities, additional responsibilities are envisioned to include: . Serve as a trusted thought partner to O2 staff on complex issues related to HRDD, labor rights, and worker engagement across global seafood supply chains, by sharing expertise, connections, ideas, and advice including on complex or sensitive issues.. Provide strategic guidance on social responsibility approaches and tools for HRDD such as the SRA, Wi-Fi, and worker engagement approaches, including as a part of O2’s 2026 5-year strategic plan development process.. Review and provide input on concept notes, proposals, reports, or external communications items where appropriate.. Demonstrated experience advancing human rights due diligence, responsible labor practices, or social responsibility in global supply chains. . Experience implementing human rights impact assessments, the SRA tool, and developing and implementing action plans.. Strong understanding of market-based or industry-led initiatives focused on human and labor rights, and/or social responsibility.. Experience working with international organizations in fisheries and seafood, human rights, or related fields.. Proven ability to build trusted relationships internally and externally.. Deep understanding of global seafood systems, sustainability initiatives, and responsible sourcing frameworks.. Excellent communication skills and comfort working across regions and time zones.. Ability to navigate complex, and sometimes sensitive, stakeholder dynamics.. Self-starter and able to identify needs and gaps.. Flexibility with working hours to meet needs of various time zones, including ability to meet during U.S. Pacific/Hawaii time zone normal working hours. . Time Requirements, Compensation & Term: . This is a contracted position compensated at a competitive hourly rate based on experience and location to be negotiated with the contractor. The anticipated time contribution is between 20 and 30 hours per month. The desired start date is February 2026 with the contract ending December 31, 2026.
