The company is seeking a Head of Engineering to lead the next phase of its tech evolution and help scale with purpose. This role is ideal for an ambitious engineering leader who thrives in collaborative environments and wants to shape a high-impact team within a rapidly scaling company.. The successful candidate will join a talented and motivated engineering team, complemented by outsourced support. What the Role Entails. Leadership & Team Development. - Guide and mentor a small, capable engineering team focused on back-end stability and delivery.. - Help the team grow through coaching, career planning, and opportunities for ownership.. - Act as a change agent, helping the team adapt to modern workflows, tools, and ways of collaborating.. Technology Strategy. - Collaborate with the executive leadership team by owning and evolving the technology strategy and balancing tactical execution with strategic vision, seeing both the forest and the trees.. - Proactively identify opportunities to modernize the tech stack, adopt emerging technologies, and eliminate technical debt while ensuring all technology decisions directly support business objectives and long-term growth.. - Define a technical roadmap that supports product goals, customer experience, and long-term scalability.. - Champion engineering excellence, from architecture and security to code quality and DevOps practices.. AI & Automation. - Identify and apply AI/ML tools to accelerate workflows, such as Figma → Jira MCP integrations, automate QA, and improve CI/CD processes.. - Evaluate how AI can power future product features (e.g., personalized learning, adaptive content).. Frontend Modernization. - Lead the implementation of a modern design system and help elevate the user-facing tech stack.. - Partner with Product and Design to drive front-end best practices and clean, reusable component architecture.. - Lead the creation and rollout of a design system and scalable component architecture.. DTC App Leadership. - Oversee outsourced mobile app development partners—ensuring quality, velocity, and a strong user experience.. - Align app development with backend efforts and evolving customer journeys.. Data Infrastructure. - Support continued rollout of Segment, Snowflake, and new BI tools that power customer insight, personalization, and marketing automation.. Current Technology Stack. Website. Frontend: WordPress (core site), .NET (transactional landing pages), Bootstrap (design system in development). Backend: PHP (WordPress), .NET, Python. Data & Infrastructure: PostgreSQL, AWS, GitHub Actions, Cloudflare. App. Frontend: Unity, Analytics Packages (AppsFlyer, CleverTap, Firebase, Braze). Backend: Ruby on Rails, JSON: API. Data & Infrastructure: PostgreSQL, AWS (EC2, RDS, ALB, ElastiCache, S3), Rancher, Docker, Redis, AppsFlyer, Braze, Clever Tap. About the Ideal Candidate. - 6+ years of experience in engineering roles, including at least 2 years in technical leadership or management.. - Full-stack experience (front-end frameworks + Backend API development + data infrastructure); strong architectural instincts.. - Passion for growing teams and supporting what's working while helping people and systems level up.. - Strength in architectural evaluation and documentation.. - Experience in change management and enthusiasm for enhancing team operations and collaboration.. - Curiosity about AI/LLM tooling as a means to automate workflows, productivity tools, or even product features. Professional development certifications in this area are ideal.. - Experience building and shipping customer-facing products, ideally in subscription-based or consumer-facing businesses.. - Collaborative mindset with the ability to thrive in cross-functional environments and a deep care for delivering great experiences to end users.. - Experience managing outsourced vendors or app development partners is a plus.. - Bonus: exposure to DTC, subscriptions, education technology, or children's content..
