The Principal Power System Engineer will provide subject matter expertise in transmission planning, generator interconnection, and complex power system analysis. You will lead technical studies, guide project strategy, and advise on innovative solutions to enhance system reliability and efficiency. Working closely with senior leadership, clients, and cross-functional teams, you will influence technical decisions, support business development, and mentor junior engineers. The position combines hands-on engineering, strategic planning, and leadership to deliver impactful energy solutions across multiple ISO/RTO footprints. You will stay current with emerging technologies, market trends, and regulatory standards to ensure best-in-class services.. . Accountabilities. As a Principal Power System Engineer, you will:. . Lead generator interconnection and transmission planning projects across multiple ISOs/RTOs and utilities.. . Conduct detailed power system analyses, including load flow, optimal power flow, transient stability, and short circuit studies.. . Provide technical insights and recommendations for complex initiatives and policy development in the energy sector.. . Identify optimal interconnection strategies and assess system impacts and grid capacity.. . Collaborate with cross-functional teams and advise on market trends, software strategy, and process improvements.. . Develop and maintain relationships with clients, regulatory agencies, and industry stakeholders.. . Mentor and train junior engineers, ensuring high-quality deliverables and knowledge transfer.. . Prepare RFP responses, project scopes, timelines, and participate in business development and marketing efforts.. . Represent the organization at industry conferences, seminars, and workshops.. . Candidates should have:. . Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field (Master’s or PhD preferred).. . 8–10 years of experience in the electric energy industry, with a focus on generator modeling, transmission planning, and interconnection studies.. . Strong expertise in power flow, optimal power flow, transient stability, and related system analysis techniques.. . Proficiency in at least one, preferably several, of the following software packages: PSSE, TARA, PSLF, ASPEN, DSATools, PSCAD.. . Familiarity with SPP and MISO footprints and utility tariffs.. . Experience with automation or programming using Python, C#, SQL is advantageous.. . Excellent analytical problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and communication abilities.. .
