Senior SQL Database Administrator. to support our VA-ESOM (End Point Support and Operations Monitoring) contract across the United States. The VA is responsible for providing comprehensive onsite and remote support to IT customers across all VA Administrations and special program offices, including direct support of over 340,000 VA employees and thousands of contractors who use government-furnished IT equipment and infrastructure. The VA provides support staff across 100+ CONUS and OCONUS locations, including difficult-to-accommodate locales, such as high cost of living or under-supported economic areas, where VA offices or facilities may be located and require onsite services. . A Senior SQL Database Administrator will provide technical support for maintaining and securing databases, conducting performance tuning and optimization, support backup and recovery events, monitor and troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with all development, testing and maintenance activities. The candidate is a solely dedicated resource, designated to the Application Performance Monitoring team, responsible for supporting 25 – 27 SolarWinds SQL databases within the VA environment. . Responsibilities:. . Design, develop and implement database solutions while ensuring data integrity and availability. . . Responsible for managing SQL databases for enterprise services.. . Responsible for patching Windows SQL servers.. . Responsible for conducting Windows SQL backups and failovers.. . Optimize database access and allocate resources for optimal performance.. . Develop, implement, and test database backup and recovery policies and procedures. . . Monitor SQL server performance, resolve incidents, and fulfill requests within defined key performance indicators. . . Provide technical support for SQL server database environments. . . Troubleshoot problems and issues identified by customers and implement corrective actions quickly.. . Exhibits effective communication and customer relationship skills, with the ability to clearly articulate status, progress, and obstacles, and proactively provides recommendations for mitigations.. . Master's degree in computer science, electronics engineering or other engineering or technical discipline OR 10 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education.. . 10 years of relevant Experience. . Ability to support Monday – Friday during normal working hours but may need to flex time based on the need for on-call 24/7/365 support. . . Ability to flex their schedule (when needed) to conduct once a week, nightly SQL maintenance with server patching.. . Prior experience with SolarWinds and in-depth experience with SQL.. .
