Archaeologist, Field Health and Safety Specialist at Southeastern Archaeological Research, LLC. "SEARCH". Position Information. SEARCH has an immediate opening for a Full Time Archaeologist with health and safety experience. This position can report out of any of the SEARCH offices or remote.                . Pay is commensurate with education and experience.               . . Key Responsibilities: . . Use experience, education from a degreed program, and professional judgment to perform archaeological survey and excavation in support of fieldwork for Phase I, II, and III studies.. . Administer the project health and safety plan and participate in office and field training. Offer recommendations for improvement to Health and Safety Manager. . . Travel to job sites throughout the US to provide health and safety trainings, inspections, and provide day-to-day feedback to the Health and Safety Manager and Operations. . . Provide hands-on solutions in the field to day-to-day health and safety needs. . . Identify gaps and help provide solutions to Health and Manager and Operations to field health and safety plans. . . Use electronic and traditional navigational equipment (GPS, mobile device equipped with FieldMaps, and compass) to orient yourself and perform fieldwork.. . Photo-document artifacts, ecofacts, features, excavation units, land use, landscapes, unique environmental features, historic structures, archaeological sites, and work in progress; record an accurate photo log.. . Record accurate, organized, and clear field notes, maps, drawings, logs, forms, tables, databases, artifact bags, box labels, and other project documentation.. . Collect artifacts, ecofacts, and samples in accordance with the research design and keep an accurate field specimen log.. . Perform quality control of field data (hand-written and electronic) daily to ensure information is accurate and complete. Complete project tasks and errands as directed by the Lead Archaeologist, Senior Archaeologist, and/or other project leadership.. . Complete timesheets and other administrative task or project requirements accurately and on schedule.. . Other duties as assigned. . . Other Information. . Bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related field. Master’s degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related field preferred. . Completion of an accredited archaeological field school and/or six months of field experience.. Minimum three years of professional archaeological field experience encompassing some supervisory experience. . Experience with in-field health and safety. . Ability to travel for extended periods of time and maintain a valid driver’s license, a good driving record, and access to reliable transportation.. Ability to obtain government security clearance.. Ability to carry up to 50 lbs. occasionally.. Ability to undertake physical work outside, often in inclement weather.. Company Location: United States.
