Bilingual Administrative Assistant (Cantonese/Mandarin) at Hire Overseas. We're looking for a bilingual Admin Assistant who is fluent in English and Cantonese or Mandarin to support a boutique law firm based in California, serving clients throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. The firm practices family law, employment law, and civil rights, and roughly half of its clients are Chinese-speaking. This role exists to make sure those clients are never left without clear, accurate communication at any point in their experience with the firm.. The split is approximately 30% live interpretation and translation, 70% administrative support. You do not need a legal background. Small team environment where your work has immediate visibility and impact. What You'll Work On. Interpretation and Translation. Provide live interpretation between English and Cantonese or Mandarin during client calls, consultations, and case discussions. Translate written documents, emails, and client-facing materials as needed. Ensure accuracy and tone are preserved across both languages in sensitive legal contexts. Serve as a communication bridge between the legal team and Chinese-speaking clients. Step in for interpretation support on short notice when client needs arise. Administrative Support. Handle data entry, document management, and file organization across firm systems. Assist with basic bookkeeping tasks including expense tracking and invoice logging. Draft, review, and respond to emails on behalf of the team as directed. Support day-to-day operations across scheduling, client follow-ups, and internal coordination. Maintain organized records with attention to detail and confidentiality. Marketing Support (Nice to Have). Assist with social media posting, content scheduling, or basic digital marketing tasks. Help draft client-facing communications or update website copy when needed. Support any outreach or visibility initiatives the firm pursues. What You Bring. Full professional fluency in English and Cantonese or Mandarin, written and spoken. Cantonese fluency is strongly preferred, as most Cantonese speakers also speak Mandarin. Prior experience in an administrative, legal, or client-facing support role. Comfort handling live interpretation in professional or high-stakes conversations. Strong written communication skills in both English and Chinese. Proficiency in standard productivity tools including email, spreadsheets, and document management platforms. High attention to detail and a strong sense of confidentiality. Ability to manage shifting priorities in a small, fast-moving team. Nice to Have. Background in legal, paralegal, or professional services environments. Basic bookkeeping or accounting experience. Experience with any legal practice management software.
