We are currently looking for a Staff/Principal Service Designer, Technical (HHS) in the United States.. This role offers the opportunity to lead the design and delivery of government services by connecting human, digital, and organizational interactions into seamless experiences. You will work with multidisciplinary teams to research, prototype, and implement solutions that improve public services and organizational outcomes. The position requires systems thinking, creativity, and collaboration, as well as the ability to navigate complex organizational structures. You will be responsible for shaping service strategy, conducting research, generating and testing ideas, and guiding implementation while ensuring alignment with user needs and policy requirements. Accountabilities. ·         Lead strategy and planning to define service design engagements and initiatives.. ·         Conduct research, ideation, prototyping, and implementation iteratively as part of a lean-agile team.. ·         Plan and execute research activities to understand user behavior and service interactions, synthesizing findings into actionable insights.. ·         Generate, evaluate, and select ideas to improve services using structured ideation methods.. ·         Develop and test prototypes to explore future service experiences, including paper, digital, or alternative validation techniques.. ·         Implement changes across organizational, operational, human, technological, and physical components of services.. ·         Maintain organized, clear, and comprehensive documentation throughout the design process.. ·         Facilitate collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and influence stakeholders to achieve consensus and drive service improvement.. ·         Ability to apply systems thinking to understand and improve organizational and service interactions.. ·         Strong skills in research planning, data collection, analysis, and presenting findings.. ·         Expertise in identifying opportunities for service improvement through ideation and experimentation.. ·         Knowledge of aligning policies, technology, infrastructures, and systems to deliver meaningful outcomes.. ·         Experience leading collaborative research and design activities, influencing teams, and building consensus.. ·         Ability to work effectively in professional services environments and communicate clearly with clients.. ·         Passion for improving public outcomes through innovative and human-centered service design.. ·         Alignment with organizational core values and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.. ·         Willingness to travel occasionally for work.. ·         Nice-to-have: experience in civic tech and remote-team environments.. ·         Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.; some roles may require public trust or security clearance..
