As a Principal Electrical Engineer, you will define and drive the electronic system architecture for complex scientific instruments, leading both board- and system-level design. You will collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, optical, software, and product teams to translate requirements into innovative electrical designs. Accountabilities. · Define electronic system architecture for next-generation instruments, including circuit boards, cabling, harnessing, and integration with mechanical and optical subsystems.. · Design, prototype, and validate complex mixed-signal circuit boards, embedded processors, high-speed interfaces, FPGAs, motor drivers, and sensor conditioning.. · Specify and integrate power distribution and management systems, ensuring safety, efficiency, and EMI/EMC compliance.. · Develop cabling and interconnect strategies with considerations for mechanical fit, serviceability, manufacturability, and reliability.. · Lead design reviews, risk management activities, and ensure smooth transition of designs into scalable production.. · Mentor and lead a team of electrical, FPGA, and firmware engineers, fostering technical growth and high engineering standards.. · Contribute hands-on to testing, debugging, bring-up, and system integration as needed while maintaining a strategic perspective.. · Ensure compliance with regulatory and safety standards, including UL, CE, FCC/EMC, FDA, and ISO requirements.. . · Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.. · 8–14 years of experience in electrical engineering design, depending on degree level.. · Proven experience with electronic board design, transitioning products to manufacturing, and mentoring engineers.. · Proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout using tools such as Altium, OrCAD, or Cadence Allegro.. · Expertise in signal integrity, EMI/EMC design techniques, and high-speed mixed-signal circuit design.. · Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.. · Preferred: experience leading cross-disciplinary design reviews with mechanical, optical, and software teams.. · Ability to work onsite Monday–Thursday, with remote work on Fridays; occasional visits to other locations may be required.. .
