Solar Proposal Designer. who can turn technical field data into accurate, customer-ready proposals. The ideal candidate understands both the technical and practical aspects of solar systems and enjoys translating site details into clear, professional estimates that help clients make confident decisions.. Role Overview. The Solar Proposal Designer will prepare detailed, accurate proposals and quotes for solar repair, maintenance, and reinstallation services. This role requires a strong technical understanding of PV systems, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate across teams — from technicians in the field to accounting and project management.. Key Responsibilities. Prepare detailed quotes for R&R (remove and reinstall), preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and critter guard installations.. Analyze site photos, technician notes, and reports to identify modules, inverters, racking systems, and balance-of-system components.. Verify site data including roof conditions, wiring layouts, serial numbers, and equipment lists before releasing proposals.. Collaborate with service managers, dispatchers, and accounting to confirm pricing, labor, and project timelines.. Utilize quoting tools such as Zoho CRM, RazorSync, or equivalent systems to manage tickets, SKUs, and cost structures.. Communicate clearly with clients through well-written, transparent proposals explaining scope, assumptions, and inclusions.. Review technician labor logs and field notes to ensure quotes align with actual site conditions and cost expectations.. Must-Have Qualifications. Technical comprehension of PV systems — able to identify major components and system configurations from site documentation or images.. Experience preparing detailed solar service quotes (R&R, PM, CM, etc.) with strong accuracy and consistency.. Basic roofing and electrical knowledge, particularly around penetrations, flashing, wiring, and conduit routing.. Proficiency with CRM and quoting tools (Zoho CRM, RazorSync, or similar platforms).. Excellent written communication skills and customer-facing professionalism.. Strong attention to detail — double-checks serial numbers, roof measurements, and design assumptions.. Analytical mindset capable of converting field data into a clear, cost-based model.. Collaborative and dependable, able to work cross-functionally to finalize proposals efficiently.. Nice-to-Have Skills. Experience with AutoCAD, Helioscope, or Aurora for array visualization and reinstallation spacing validation.. Familiarity with NEC 690/705 guidelines and local permitting or AHJ standards.. Background in insurance restoration estimating or Xactimate-style quoting.. Ability to calculate and analyze EPR ratios, margins, or profitability metrics using Excel or Google Sheets.. Understanding of roofing systems such as asphalt shingle, EPDM, TPO, and metal, and how they affect solar mounting.. Knowledge of racking vendors and hardware (Unirac, IronRidge, SnapNrack, EcoFasten, etc.) for equipment identification.. Exposure to solar partner networks (Sunrun, Trinity, Palmetto, Spruce, Omnidian, etc.) and their quoting standards.. Ideal Candidate.
