Rankings Research Analyst and Writer at Newton Media Ltd. Research Analyst & Writer - WIPR Rankings. 18k ZAR per month fixed. Fully remote contractor role in South Africa. Full time, UK hours 9am - 5.30pm, 37.5 hours a week, Monday to Friday.. We are seeking an ambitious, motivated and hard-working research analyst and writer to assist with the research and writing of our reports. . WIPR Rankings is the home of authoritative, well-researched, business-essential rankings of intellectual property law firms and lawyers.. The Rankings Research Analyst & Writer is responsible for conducting in-depth desk research, analysing law firm capabilities, and compiling authoritative rankings for WIPR Rankings. The role involves reviewing written submissions, conducting interviews with legal professionals, and distilling qualitative and quantitative information into well-structured reports. The Research Analyst must ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in reporting while maintaining editorial standards.. You will need to be independent minded and intellectually curious. You will also be tasked with writing summaries of the law firms and lawyers in your rankings in a clear and accessible writing style. Research analysts take ownership of the rankings and writing assigned to them and regularly discuss their work with the rankings editor. . This role would suit a recent graduate with a law background or a business journalist with an interest in the legal/IP sector.. Please note this is not a data analyst role.. About us. Conducting original and insightful research. . Interviewing intellectual property lawyers, their clients and other industry professionals . . Reaching appropriate conclusions on new rankings based on your research. . Writing compelling, clear, concise and easily understood copy. . Maintaining a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail in reports . . You may occasionally meet interviewees in person and attend industry events. . . Strong business research nous. . A degree; a law, journalism or business degree would be an advantage. . An enquiring mind and ability to quickly grasp the key elements of the different disciplines of intellectual property law in a commercial context and be able to discuss these issues with confidence with leading practitioners globally. . Excellent writing skills, particularly the ability to write clearly and concisely. . Attention to detail. . Ability to draw broad conclusions from a broad range of sources including factual data, written submissions and telephone interviews. . The ability to closely follow house style. . Intellectually curious. . Fluent English speaker.. . Proficient at using different IT systems including Microsoft Office, Google G-Suite, website CMS’s (WordPress or similar) and able to pick up technology easily.. . And most importantly... .
