The Financial Controller will oversee accounting functions, ensure compliance with GAAP, manage financial reporting and audits, and implement strong internal controls. Working closely with leadership and cross-functional teams, this role contributes to the organization’s financial integrity and operational excellence in a remote and flexible environment.. . Accountabilities:. . Lead month-end and year-end close processes, delivering accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with GAAP.. . Manage the annual external audit and coordinate all tax, compliance, and grant reporting requirements.. . Oversee accounting operations including cash management, accounts payable/receivable, and payroll review.. . Establish and enforce accounting policies, driving scalable process improvements.. . Design and maintain a robust internal control framework and lead risk mitigation efforts.. . Manage and mentor a small accounting team, fostering a supportive and mission-driven culture.. . Collaborate with leadership to support financial planning, compliance, and operational goals.. . . Significant experience leading accounting teams, with deep expertise in nonprofit accounting, GAAP, and fund accounting.. . Proven success in managing month-end close, audits, and compliance filings including Form 990.. . Experience working in high-growth or startup environments, with hands-on ERP/accounting system expertise (NetSuite preferred).. . Strong skills in translating complex financial data for diverse stakeholders, including executives and auditors.. .
