Role Overview. Manos Software is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Technology / CTO to lead the technology strategy, modernization, and innovation roadmap across its European portfolio of software companies.. This hands-on, strategic leadership role combines technical depth with business insight. The CTO will guide and mentor engineering teams across multiple vertical market software businesses, ensuring alignment with commercial goals and Valsoft’s long-term vision.. You will drive modernization, cloud adoption, and AI integration—empowering each portfolio company to build scalable, secure, and forward-looking software solutions.. Key Responsibilities. 1. Technology Strategy & Leadership. • Define and execute a unified technology vision and roadmap across multiple independent portfolio companies.. • Align technology initiatives with each company’s commercial and product objectives, ensuring scalability, security, and performance.. • Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies (AI/LLMs, DevOps automation, cloudnative platforms) that enhance customer and business outcomes.. • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on technology trends, architecture, and digital transformation.. 2. AI-Driven Innovation & Modernization. • Lead the modernization of legacy systems into modular, API-first, and cloud-native architectures.. • Identify opportunities to embed AI and automation into products and development workflows.. • Champion AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to boost productivity and code quality.. • Guide teams in developing AI-powered capabilities such as predictive analytics, intelligent document handling, and process automation.. 3. Engineering Management & Mentorship. • Oversee multiple distributed engineering teams across Europe and South Africa.. • Mentor technical leaders and developers, fostering a culture of innovation, learning, and accountability.. • Establish and enforce best practices in software development, testing, DevOps, and architecture governance.. • Build technical leadership depth within each business to enable autonomy and longterm sustainability.. 4. Process Improvement & Delivery Excellence. • Standardize software delivery processes across portfolio companies to improve consistency and efficiency.. • Define measurable KPIs around velocity, stability, and technical debt reduction.. • Promote continuous improvement through retrospectives, shared learning, and portfolio-wide collaboration.. • Balance innovation speed with disciplined execution and maintainability.. 5. Cross-Functional Collaboration & Integration. • Partner with Product, Operations, and Finance leaders to align technology investments with business priorities.. • Support M&A due diligence and post-acquisition technology assessments and integration for newly acquired companies.. • Coordinate shared infrastructure, vendor relationships, and technology resources across the European portfolio.. • Represent the technology function in strategic portfolio reviews and planning sessions.. • Responsible for the budget of all development and IT investments including staff, tools and hosting.. 6. Quality, Security & Compliance. • Ensure all technology deliverables meet high standards for quality, security, and reliability.. • Implement best practices in governance, compliance, and data protection across the portfolio.. • Conduct regular technical audits and risk assessments, addressing issues proactively.. • Lead initiatives to enhance system resilience, performance monitoring, and cyber readiness.. • Lead annual compliance audits for companies with ISO27001 and SOC 2 Type II certifications and assist companies seeking certification.. • Work with multiple teams to improve their Secure SDLC practices. About You. Essential Qualifications & Experience. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.. • 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5+ years in a senior technology leadership position (Director, VP, or CTO).. • Proven success in leading multi-team or multi-company technology initiatives in SaaS or vertical market software environments.. • Demonstrated experience in increasing productivity through vibe coding projects.. • Strong technical foundation in .NET or similar, MS SQL Server, and cloud-based multi-tenant architectures (Azure).. • Experience with modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular) and CI/CD DevOps practices like Github Actions.. • Track record of platform modernization, cloud migration, and the integration of AIdriven tools or workflows.. • Excellent leadership and communication skills, capable of influencing across diverse teams and stakeholders.. • Experience managing distributed or remote teams across multiple timezones.. Desirable / Bonus Skills. • Experience in vertical market software (ERP, financial services, manufacturing, maintenance, or other industry-specific platforms).. • Familiarity with AI orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex) and intelligent automation systems.. • Knowledge of compliance and data protection standards in European software operations.. • M&A experience in technical due diligence or post-acquisition integration.. • Experience with diverse tech stacks, architectural styles and development processes. • Fluency in Spanish – an advantage for collaboration across Southern European . portfolio companies..
