As an AWS EKS Engineer, you will design, upgrade, and manage Kubernetes clusters that run on AWS EKS ensuring containerized applications run smoothly, securely, and efficiently always. Role and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):. Create, configure, and manage EKS clusters.. Manage node groups (EC2 or Fargate nodes).. Provide upgrades of Kubernetes versions and worker nodes.. Monitor cluster health and performance.. Set up and manage IAM roles, Kubernetes RBAC, and AWS Auth ConfigMap for access control.. Implement network policies, security groups, and VPC configurations.. Ensure compliance with security best practices.. Configure VPCs, subnets, and load balancers (ALB/NLB).. Manage Service, Ingress, and DNS setups.. Handle cluster networking plugins (CNI) and troubleshoot connectivity issues.. Utilize Amazon CloudWatch, Prometheus, and Grafana for monitoring.. Configure log agregation (e.g., with Fluent Bit, CloudWatch Logs, or ELK stack).. Set up alerts for resource usage and failures.. Engage with CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, or CodePipeline.. Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools including Terraform, AWS CDK, or CloudFormation.. Automate the processes of cluster provisioning, scaling, and updates.. Troubleshoot and resolve challenges associated with pods, nodes, networking, or storage.. Manage scaling concerns (HPA/VPA/Cluster Autoscaler) to ensure optimal performance.. Conduct regular maintenance and updates to keep systems running smoothly.. U.S. citizenship and the capability to obtain a federal background investigation are required.. A minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in cloud technologies, including at least 3 years in the administration and engineering of Amazon EKS, is essential.. A Bachelor's degree in an IT-related discipline or equivalent experience is necessary.. Proven experience includes:. Kubernetes (Amazon EKS) - capabilities in deploying, upgrading, and supporting clusters.. Terraform for Infrastructure-as-Code.. Administration and management of Kafka topics.. Experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitLab, GitHub Actions, Jenkins) is necessary.. Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools such as Datadog, CloudWatch, and Grafana is required.. Experience in automating infrastructure workflows and integrating APIs/SDKs with AWS services is essential.. A strong understanding of DevSecOps practices and compliance frameworks, including FedRAMP, FISMA, and NIST, is required.. The ability to collaborate effectively with technical subject matter experts, security teams, and OCIO leadership to ensure secure, integrated, and optimized solutions is essential..
