
Engineering Manager at REE Medical. Job Summary:. The Engineering Manager plays a key role within our IT Ops & Engineering team, overseeing a small engineering group focused on our Microsoft Azure, SQL environment, and data warehouse. This role is responsible for managing technical staff, guiding data architecture, and ensuring efficient data flow, ingestion, transformation, and documentation. The Engineering Manager combines hands-on technical expertise with people leadership to drive scalable, secure, and well-documented data infrastructure that supports REE Medical’s growth.. . What is expected in this role:. . Driving team strategy and direction in collaboration with the Sr. Director of IT Operations & Engineering.. . . Maintaining goals, metrics, and team structure for direct reports. . . Working in tandem with the Sr. Director of IT Operations & Engineering to ensure complete alignment across the teams, ensuring team goals are meeting or exceeding company objectives. . . Leading and owning their team's success. . . Coaching, mentoring, and tracking their team’s performance ensuring alignment with the overall departmental goals and company strategy. . . Owning any team timecards and PTO approvals and servicing as a backup for the overall team when supervisors are unavailable. . . Managing team goals and tracking towards team success, along with owning each team member development and overall group development for the Engineering team.. . Acting as the lead in interviews and onboarding processes for all new team members.. . Overseeing the overall performance management process across the team, this can include coaching conversations, reviews as needed, addressing any performance concerns, etc. . . Ensuring the total team follows all processes and procedures related to Compliance Programs and safeguarding personally identifiable information / personal health information across the team. . . Owning team meetings and regular staff check-ins to disseminate essential information and updates. . . Managing and reporting on team compliance within REE Medical’s policies and procedures.. . Collaborating closely with business leaders and stakeholders to gather and interpret data requirements and translate those requirements into effective, scalable data warehouse solutions. . . . This means you are designing logical and physical database schemas that support analytics and reporting needs. . . This means you are also monitoring Azure data services spend and implementing cost-saving strategies to ensure alignment with the IT department’s financial forecasts.. . This means you are working closely with leadership to define high performance and accountability, while actively analyzing data to identify opportunities for improvement. . . . Providing technical leadership and hands-on oversight for the development, deployment, and maintenance of data migration and engineering solutions. . . . This includes leveraging Azure-based services such as Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Functions, Event Hub, Azure Stream Analytics, and Azure Databricks, as well as traditional data warehousing tools. . . This also means you are guiding team members in building robust, scalable, and secure data solutions that support organizational goals.. . . Overseeing the design, implementation, and monitoring of both batch and real-time data pipelines using modern cloud-based technologies. . . . This means you are ensuring data pipelines are efficient, resilient, and maintainable, supporting critical business operations and insights across departments. . . This also means driving best practices in data ingestion, transformation, and delivery to maintain high data quality and reliability.. . . What you need in this role to be successful:. . Minimum 5 Years Experience w/ cloud development, ideally Microsoft Azure: including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure DevOps, Azure Blob Storage and SQL.. . This means you have hands-on experience with the Microsoft Azure data ecosystem, including building and managing data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and processing using tools like Azure Data Factory, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure SQL, Databricks, and Azure Stream Analytics. And you have been able to design and implement end-to-end solutions, from raw data capture to curated, consumable datasets for reporting and analytics.. . Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including expertise in T-SQL, table design, creating and maintaining views, stored procedures, and working with SSIS for data integration and ETL (Extract, Transfer, Load) processes.. . This means you have experience using Microsoft SQL for data analytics, including writing complex queries, analyzing large datasets, and supporting reporting and business intelligence needs.. . At least 3 years of supervisory experience. Ideally managing engineering resources directly and managing a team of 4 or more individuals. . . Experience w/ Salesforce is a Big Plus!. . Strong leadership skills and goal-driven approach, with the ability to motivate and inspire teams towards achieving common goals even while navigating changing priorities and leading teams through time of change. Experience doing so in a remote environment is a plus!. . Highly organized, multi-tasking skills, and efficient in ambiguous situations.. . Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of presenting to senior management.. . Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a focus on building and maintaining relationships with internal cross-department leaders and external stakeholders.. . Experience within the VA Disability Industry is a plus. . . Excellent analytical, project management, and problem-solving abilities, capable of handling multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with an eye for continuous improvement and operational efficiency. . . Ability to think strategically while still maintaining a detail-oriented, self-motivated, and well-organized mindset. . . Exceptional attention to detail. . .
